Role Title: Regulatory Reporting

Role Purpose
Responsible for support of the Group’s RWA/capital planning and forecasting initiatives including the Annual Operating Plan and quarterly latest estimates.
Production, analysis, review and challenge of plan/forecast regulatory information and related metrics in support of the Group’s decision making and strategic objectives.
Transfer regulatory knowledge to the global businesses and the regions to achieve more optimal RWA/capital forecasts.
Contribute to the design and development of robust data systems which support accurate and versatile reporting of plan/forecast regulatory information.
Support GRIAP involvement in risk model development, internal stress-testing initiatives and information requests pertaining to plan/forecast regulatory information.
Key Accountabilities
Impact on the Business
Production and analysis of RWA plan/forecast data in support of management information for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
Analysis of plan/forecast regulatory measures and metrics in support of Group Finance review and challenge of capital demand/management objectives of global businesses and regions and consistency and accuracy against business strategy and economic assumptions.
Advance GRIAP’s input into and utilization of HSBC’s risk model strategy and roll-out plans, particular in relation to their impact upon business strategy and RWA planning/forecasting.
Support the design, development and assurance of regulatory planning data input and reporting systems.
Provision of high quality support by Group Finance into internal stress testing and information requests from regulators.
Customers / Stakeholders
Training and support for the global business and regional planning functions in relation to regulatory data understanding, collection, analysis, forecasting and systems input.
Build effective relationships with regions, global businesses and global functions.
Leadership & Teamwork
To work effectively with the wider GRIAP function, Global Businesses and regions
Provide advice and assistance to colleagues working on other areas
Major Challenges
Management of, and engagement with, multiple workstreams with competing priorities.
Adherence to BAU and AOP process timelines in an environment of continual ad-hoc requests at short notice.
Managing high workloads while maintaining attention to detail.
Influencing support functions such as Global Finance Applications and other systems change to deliver to an adapting regulatory environment and the expectations of senior management
Balancing the need for maintaining progress with that of delivering objectives to exacting requirements with zero deficiencies.
Keeping up to date with the complex and ever changing regulatory environment
Role Context
The role is based in GRIAP
The role holder needs to interface with other Group Finance functions including Group Management reporting, Group Strategy and Group Risk
The role holder needs to interface with businesses: GBM, RBWM, PB and CMB and with the regions.
Management of Risk
The jobholder will also continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.
This will be achieved by ensuring all actions take account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring.
Also by addressing any areas of concern in conjunction with line management and/or the appropriate department.
The jobholder is responsible for ensuring that he is aware of and acts in accordance with the Group Standards Manual and operational risk guidelines;
Application of effective techniques to manage risks associated with the implementation of system and process changes.
Observation of Internal Controls
The jobholder will also adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators.
The jobholder will implement the Group compliance policy by containing compliance risk in liaison with Global Head of Compliance, Global Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer. The term ‘compliance’ embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply.
This will be achieved by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures and by liaising with Compliance department about new business initiatives at the earliest opportunity. Also and when applicable, by ensuring adequate resources are in place and training is provided, fostering a compliance culture and optimising relations with regulators.
Jobholder is an ‘insider’ for dealing purposes and subject to strict controls and confidentiality.
Desired profile
Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications
Qualifications in accounting, banking risk management or another financial discipline.
Excellent data analysis and report building skills
Risk and regulatory capital demand and supply knowledge is essential
Risk model experience in the areas of the development process, model lifecycle, internal model governance or the regulatory model approval process is highly desirable.
Strong banking and finance business and product knowledge
Strong HSBC systems knowledge or the willingness to learn HSBC systems, particularly Management Information systems
Experience in systems assurance and user acceptance testing is desirable
Good business writing skills, in respect of writing clear and concise business commentary or system requirements documents
An understanding of the business drivers of RWA/capital plans and their development.
Experience working within or alongside a project framework, toward a project-related deliverable(s)
