Global Risk
Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, operational, credit, pension, insurance, compliance, regulatory, market, reputation and geopolitical risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.
Compliance The role of the Compliance function is to provide advice and support to line management to manage and contain compliance risks. Clear and open communication between line management and the Compliance function is therefore highly important. Compliance facilitates the management of compliance risk (including money laundering risk) by those responsible for the conduct of the business, through:
Setting policies and standards to cover compliance issues;
Advising the Bank’s line management of the impact of applicable laws and regulations on their businesses;
Supporting line management in discharging their responsibilities to comply with applicable laws/regulations;
Carrying out independent compliance reviews and monitoring and conducting compliance training on a regular basis;
Providing, independently of local management, a reporting mechanism for all executives;
Fostering good relations with the local regulators and liaising with them on compliance matters.
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join this team in the role of Regulatory Compliance Manager.
Principal Accountabilities
To provide support to Senior Regulatory Compliance Manager Global Banking and Labuan Offshore (LBU) in the containment of compliance risks in Global Banking and LBU.
Assist in ensuring that there is a robust and effective Compliance framework in Global Banking and LBU.
Assist with implementing compliance-related projects or programmes to address, manage and mitigate impacts of regulatory changes on Global Banking and LBU in Malaysia.
Liaison with relevant stakeholder within Global Banking and LBU in Malaysia, other Global Business and Functional teams to provide expertise and support on all Regulatory Compliance related matters.
Assist in interaction with Regulators and industry bodies in Malaysia, on Regulatory Compliance matters relating to Global Banking and LBU.
Ensure the appropriate timely and relevant risk information is provided to Global Banking and LBU management, and relevant committee for Global Banking and LBU.
Assist in enhancing compliance awareness amongst Global Banking and LBU staff.
Assist to monitor changes to business practices and products of Global Banking and LBU to ensure that compliance procedures and controls are adequate to cover them.
Maintain and develop positive and professional working relationships with team members within the Compliance function and the relevant business lines.
Assist in activities in relation to implementing the alignment of Global Banking and LBU operating practices with changes in Global Regulatory Compliance Standards.
Resolve any/all identified issues promptly, and escalate concerns to relevant Compliance teammates and management as appropriate to ensure timely awareness of any material concerns.
Maintain and observe all HSBC control standards and implement and observe the Group Compliance Policy, including the timely implementation of recommendations made by internal/external auditors and external regulators.
Maintain awareness of operational risk within assigned portfolio and minimise the likelihood of it occurring including its identification, assessment, mitigation and control, loss identification and reporting.
Supporting the management of reputational and regulatory risks of Global Banking and LBU.
Desired profile
Requirements
· Degree qualification with at least 5 years of compliance or relevant experience, preferably with regulatory compliance experience in Corporate Finance, Credit & Lending (structured and plain vanilla), Global Trade and Receivable Finance (GTRF), Payment and Cash Management (PCM) and Labuan Offshore financing.
· Significant degree of professional independence.
· Strong team-player attitude.
· Strong communication and inter-personal skills, with experience of dealing with stakeholders at various levels including the capacity to articulate the case for risk management and policy in the language of business.
· Consistent follow-through in ensuring corrective or mitigating actions are put in place or closed out.
· Pro-active in identifying regulatory compliance issues or developing appropriate recommendations/solutions
