Role Purpose
· This job profile provides a broad overview of the Job Category Regulatory Compliance Advisory and is not intended to exhaustively describe the job.
· As Risk Stewards, Regulatory Compliance (RC) Advisors provide advice, guidance, opinions, direction, and training related to the regulatory landscape to the First Line of Defence/business. They ensure the business complies with the letter and spirit of relevant regulations, thereby delivering fair outcomes for customers and embedding a robust risk management culture in HSBC's business processes. A key risk management role that has a broad remit and responsibilities, which include, but not limited to, advice and oversight on Conduct, Regulatory Affairs & Policy (RAP), Controls, Monitoring & Testing (CMAT), Assurance, Regulator Engagement, conflict management and general compliance issues.
· The remit of the role covers Global Liquidity and Cash Management (GLCM). GLCM is one of HSBC's global product lines, providing and selling products and services to Commercial Banking (CMB) and Global Banking and Markets (GBM) customers. Consisting of 3,400 people spanning 55 countries, the GLCM business helps clients make payments across borders, across currencies and regulations, quickly and cost effectively with dedicated in country and regional support.
· A key risk management role that has a broad remit and responsibilities, which include and are not limited to :
· Fostering a positive culture of compliance by working proactively with the business line/global function/HOST, Business Risk and Control Management BRCM, and other compliance professionals to ensure that best practices are followed in accordance with the applicable laws, rules, regulations, and internal policy.
· Following prescribed issue escalation protocols, monitoring and surveillance of business activities, and revising procedures.
· Serves as point of contact for GLCM .
· Provides compliance support, advice and guidance to GLCM and to the applicable Compliance functions.
· Supports the team head to improve and maintain day to day to running of the compliance team at the Global/Regional/Country Level, in order to ensure the efficient decisioning and execution of tasks.
· Support the Group's RC strategy by identifying, informing and advising Senior Management of any developing issues and trends that may impact or be relevant to the Group's management as appropriate of RC risk
· Work with the RC Heads to ensure the successful implementation of this strategy
· Carry out impact analysis and advice on regulatory change; driving co-ordination and execution of the various Regulatory Compliance change work streams and embedding Operating Model changes while ensuring alignment with Global Standards.
· Ensuring effective Regulator Compliance input to the governance and reporting processes operated by Global Business/Global functions/HOST
· Establish management and administrative procedures and processes for own function or region/country, to ensure adherence to policies and manage operational risk, with due consideration to both HSBC and area or Global/Regional/Country activities
Key Accountabilities
Impact on Business
· The Global GLCM RC Assistant Manager role impacts across the GLCM business and the RC function, at Global, Regional and Country levels through the following activities:
· Driving connectivity with the GLCM RC network, through: co-ordination of structured engagement meetings, including the monthly Global / Regional call and individual Regional calls; as well as maintenance of the GLCM FCC and RC sharepoint.
· Driving connectivity with the GLCM business, through the co-ordination and development of the GLCM FCC and RC monthly newsletter.
· Providing input to GLCM and RC governance process and key forums as requested.
· Supporting the management of the GLCM RC plan.
· Supporting the development and timely reporting of GLCM RC MI.
· Conducting analysis of the GLCM RC MI.
· Co-ordinating development and delivery of the GLCM FCC and RC training for both the business and the FCC and RC network.
· Providing flexible support to GLCM FCC and RC initiatives as requested.
Customers / Stakeholders
· The GLCM RC Assistant Manager engages with a wide range of RC and GLCM business colleagues, to successfully deliver their specific roles and responsibilities. These stakeholders will include:
· Global Head of RC, GLCM.
· Global GLCM FCC and RC team.
· Regional and Country GLCM FCC and RC network.
· Global CMB and GBM RC teams.
· Group RC specialist teams.
· GLCM Global CCO and COO teams.
· Specific GLCM representatives.
Leadership & Teamwork
· The Global GLCM RC Assistant Manager is expected to work as an integral part of the GLCM FCC and RC team by:
· Supporting delivery of the FCC and RC GLCM plan.
· Collaborating across the Regional and Country RC GLCM network; the Global CMB and GBM teams; Group RC teams; and Global GLCM representatives.
Operational Effectiveness & Control
· The Global GLCM RC Assistant Manager will be expected to provide a significant contribution to operational effectives and control through a range of day to day activities, including:
· Making recommendations for and developing changes and improvements to operating models, procedures and practices.
· Communicating and adhering to HSBC policy and procedures, supporting early identification and effective resolution or escalation of issues that arise.
· Contributing to the development, implementation and maintenance of GLCM management information, analysis and reporting framework that supports and informs timely and effective business management and decision making at all levels.
· Contributing to the implementation and monitoring of the application of GLCM policies, governance frameworks, procedures, practices and standards to ensure quality, effective risk management and regulatory compliance.

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications
· Job Context:
· The Global GLCM RC team is located in London, Buffalo and New York. The majority of the team is London based and the Global GLCM RC Assistant Manager will be based in 8 Canada Square reporting into the London based Head of GLCM RC.
· As the Global FCC and RC GLCM teams work in close partnership, the Global GLCM RC Assistant Manager will also be asked to work closely with FCC colleagues and support specific FCC initiatives.
· Major Challenges:
· The GLCM business has a direct reporting line into GBM; however, provides products to CMB, GBM and in some countries, RBB customers. To support the effective management of the regulatory risks of GLCM Product Line, the Global GLCM RC team has reporting lines into both Global CMB RC and Global GBM RC and works closely with both LoBs and RBWM. The Global GLCM RC Assistant Manager will need to understand and effectively manage many cross LoB relationships to ensure the right support is provided for the GLCM RC network and the GLCM business.
· The GLCM business has significant growth objectives working in an innovative, fast paced and demanding environment.
· The role holder will need to balance the urgency of the business to grow and innovate with ensuring that effective control frameworks and internal systems, in line with HSBC risk appetites and Global Standards are in place.
· Required:
· Solid skills in fostering strong relationships with external and internal clients, peers and service providers
· Organised and capable of interpreting and analysing complex information and / or data and translating this into practical information and recommendations for management.
· Ability to adopt a tailored and effective communication style to varying levels of management up to and including Executive Management.
· Solid business acumen, multi-skilled, and proficient in understanding of organizational strategy, drivers and challenges.
· Experience of policy, process, implementation and change management.
· Skilled in the use of Excel and Powerpoint.
Desirable:
