Financial Crime Compliance aligns current activities within Global Risk and helps to build these into a more integrated framework to conduct Customer Due Diligence which enables HSBC to manage financial crime risk more effectively. It builds stronger controls to improve the way Financial Crime Compliance risks are managed in order to spot gaps as well as trends so that the team can take action. It proactively gathers and analyses financial intelligence in a smart way so that suspicious transactions, activities or connections can be identified and we can adequately protect our customers from the threat of financial crime.
 
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Regional Head of Financial Crime Compliance, Global Banking and Markets Asia-Pacific.
 
Principal responsibilities
Play a strategic risk management leadership role in providing oversight and management of all aspects of Financial Crime Risk for the Global Banking and Markets (GBM) business
Provide advice on policy, dispensation requests, approvals, outcome of transaction monitoring issues and ensure that the Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) function is resourced adequately to address the risks associated with the GBM business within the region
Lead key regulatory changes for the region,  ensuring proactive communication with business, as well as develop appropriate policy and framework to manage the changes
Maintain a strong partnership with business to drive and accelerate the execution of FCC programmes that directly impact business performance, and collaborate with various risk and GBM business functions
Ensure proactive approach is taken to identification of financial crime risk within GBM and potential impacts on HSBC
Develop and continuously review the appropriateness of control framework to monitor financial crime developments impacting  GBM in the region
Develop and implement as required anti-money laundering, counter-terrorist financing, counter proliferation, anti-bribery, anti-corruption and sanctions policies and systems to ensure that GBM‘s exposure to financial crime and reputational risks is managed in a practical and effective manner
Lead and liaise with relevant regional stakeholders within Global GBM, other Global Business and functional teams to provide GBM expertise on all FCC matters from client issues to FCC strategy
Interact with regulators and industry bodies on GBM Financial Crime related matters
Lead, motivate and develop an effective regional team through communication, cultivate an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand and improves employee engagement

Desired profile

Requirements
Extensive expertise in anti-money laundering, counter-terrorist financing and sanctions
Leadership experience and a strategic thinker with an ability to lead change
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in dealing with executives at all levels, including the capacity to articulate the case for risk management and policy
Experience in dealing with regulatory matters and confident interaction with regulators
Enhanced Vetting
The chosen candidate for this role will be required to undergo enhanced vetting. Subject to local laws, this will require the individual to satisfactorily pass a series of additional checks as part of the recruitment process and on an ongoing basis, if appointed to the role.
