Role Purpose
· Development Projects Product Control is a specialist team dedicated to the design and implementation of software for use by primarily (but not limited to) the Product Control (Finance) department of HSBC. The software solutions include calculation of derivative fair value adjustments, quantitative tools for other related valuation activities, and software to enhance the control framework of the bank.
· The role holder will work on projects to design and develop quantitative and other software solutions.

Role Context
· The jobholder will have regular contact with project stakeholders.
· The jobholder will have involvement in multiple projects across different technologies, often simultaneously.
Role Dimensions
· HSBC trades the full scope of global markets products including but not limited to spot and forward foreign currency sales and purchases, money market placements and deposits, investment and trading securities, as well as derivatives including interest rate swaps and options, currency options, currency swaps, structured credit products, credit default swaps, local currency derivatives and equity derivatives. There is considerable accounting, analytical, and market specific complexity in order to appropriately value financial market products.
· The team size overall is around 50-60 people spread across multiple sites.
Management of Risk
· The jobholder will also continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.
· Management of operational risk for the Development team is an integral part of the role profile by maintaining good discipline in coding and team working practice.
· Understand, follow and demonstrate compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which one is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.
Observation of Internal Controls
· The jobholder will also adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators.
· The jobholder will implement the Group compliance policy by containing compliance risk in liaison with Global Head of Compliance, Global Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer. The term ‘compliance' embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply.
· This will be achieved by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures and by liaising with Compliance department about new business initiatives at the earliest opportunity. Also and when applicable, by ensuring adequate resources are in place and training is provided, fostering a compliance culture and optimising relations with regulators.

Qualifications :
Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications
· University graduate in a technical discipline
· Critical programming skills in multiple technologies, it must have all of the following critical skills:
o C#/.NET 3.5/4.0/4.5
o Winforms and/or WPF
o Microsoft SQL Server
· Excellent written English and oral communication skills
· Excellent analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem solving
· Excellent interpersonal skills
· Ambitious, driven and enthusiastic
· A general understanding/awareness of Financial Markets, Derivatives and Banking concepts
· Good to have:
o Rational Team Concert (RTC - HSBC's standard process for tracking user requirement from initial request to completion within our applications
o SVN – used for Source Control Management (Keep track of software changes and relate them to RTC Items)
o Teamcity - Global Build and testing system (HSBC's standard process to build final applications from source code)
o Sharepoint – wiki for knowledge database (HSBC's standard for knowledge gathering)
o CONTROL-M – for scheduling of feeds in/out of our systems (HSBC's standard for scheduling)
