Role Purpose
Reporting to a Senior Manager, Performance and Reward, the individual will be responsible for driving the performance and reward agenda for select GPB businesses on a global basis
- Global Markets, PWS and CAO. This includes providing strategic guidance on performance management, executive compensation, employee compensation and benefits.
Key Accountabilities
Impact on the Business
Support the year end pay review process including communications, systems support, reporting and problem resolution
Plan for new initiatives such as the PIR workstreams and support their embedding within the P&R framework and HR and the business
Communicate and support co-ordination of relevant processes and implementation throughout the year
Customers / Stakeholders
Establish and maintain close working relationships with HRGs to ensure business managers are provided with timely strategic advice for performance management, comp and benefits
Maintain expert specialist knowledge by keeping abreast of published materials, competitor practice, external market developments and trends and legislative and regulatory developments
Act as product champion for (P&R) to stakeholders across the HR function and within the business, building awareness and adoption of relevant products and processes, including the use and acceptance of TC, incorporating local business needs and regulatory requirements as appropriate
Interpret and advise on policy and act as subject matter expert to the relevant businesses
Leadership & Teamwork
Navigate the HR matrix, ensuring compliance of Group, geography and global line HR agendas for area of expertise
Lead the pay review process for client group, bringing thought leadership and advice to HR and business managers
Establish and sustain an effective network of business stakeholders to facilitate understanding of the business issues and the development and dissemination of ideas
Operational Effectiveness & Control
Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators
Compliance with HR FIM
Implements the Group Compliance Policy, as applicable to the role

The jobholder will also continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.
This will be achieved by ensuring all actions take account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring.
Also by addressing any areas of concern in conjunction with line management and/or the appropriate department.
Observation of Internal Controls
The jobholder will also adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators.
The jobholder will implement the Group compliance policy by containing compliance risk in liaison with Global Head of Compliance, Global Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer. The term ‘compliance’ embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply.
This will be achieved by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures and by liaising with Compliance department about new business initiatives at the earliest opportunity. Also and when applicable, by ensuring adequate resources are in place and training is provided, fostering a compliance culture and optimising relations with regulators.

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications
Graduate degree with preferably additional post graduate qualification in human resources, tax, accounting of other business related discipline (or equivalent)
Experience of Performance and Reward practice in a complex global matrix business
A good understanding of the wider HSBC Group and its businesses
Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills and strong customer orientation
Strong analytical skills; ability to interpret and apply market data and trends
Ability to work in a virtual set-up and influence counterparts in Regional P&R teams.
Ability to apply critical analysis and judgment when reviewing activities; ability to recommend creative and feasible solutions
Strong business acumen, able to link business strategy to people practices
Ability and willingness to contribute to the broader team and work as an effective team member
