Role Purpose
· Providing support to various members of the Group Legal with particular emphasis on project management, document review, training, legal research and liaising with internal departments when necessary.

Role Context
· The jobholder assists the Group Legal team to manage legal risk in accordance with established policies and procedures. The diversity of HSBC's business, its geographic spread and the constant changes internally and externally means the diversity of matters which the jobholder is required to assist on is wide.
· Key tasks include providing support to various members of the Group Legal with particular emphasis on project management, document review, training, legal research and liaising with internal departments when necessary. For example, you will be expected to manage and have knowledge of the Intra-Group Service Agreements (training to be provided) used within HSBC. This will include the need to answer queries from colleagues, ensuring that the current policies are being clearly communicated and providing training where needed. Within your role you will also provide support on transactions involving large vendors and assist with Intellectual Property matters, such as cease and desist letters
· The role requires an ability to quickly learn and understand the structure of the HSBC Group and its culture and the ability to handle an increasing volume of matters with less supervision.
· The jobholder must also establish close mutually supportive working relationships with other members of the Group Legal team.
Observation of Internal Controls
· Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely completion of mandatory training.

Experience
· Some experience of working with lawyers either in private practice or in-hosue preferrable but not essential.
