Role Purpose:
HSS Fund Services continues its aim of creating an efficient Global Operating Model that supports a cost effective high quality Fund Administration & Middle Office business.
The Operational Readiness Manager is a key role required to support our strategic Client onboarding programmes and will be part of the already established Operational Readiness function.
The main responsibilities are:
· To provide overall coordination, management and tracking of the Operational readiness element of the project.
· To support operations throughout the project lifecycle in preparing their teams for the change
· To ensure clear coordination, direction and control in any hand offs between the existing workstreams, particularly Operating Model, Build, Test and Business Operations teams
· Manage client interaction associated with these tasks
· Ensure that status reporting is accurate and supplied in line with defined guidelines to Senior and Company wide audiences
· Provide clear communication, timely escalation of issues to the project team and stakeholders
The jobholder will be responsible for the delivery of high standards of service, at the same time ensuring that all internal (e.g. Risk) and external (e.g. Compliance) standards requirements are met in full, utilising a combination of global bank standards and project management methodology.
Key Accountabilities:

· Tracking and reporting of all operational readiness items through to resolution
· Maintain and implement the Operational Readiness methodology, ensuring best practice
· Understand how to adopt methodologies and process to provide structure on a project to raise the standards of delivery and avoid repeating mistakes.
· Provide direct input into the change life cycle that supports the achievement of key goals, planning and execution of various business scenarios, and delivery of bottom line business value

· Accurate Production of reports and MI showing deliverables and delivery in accordance with the overall project plan
· Development & implementation of standard documentation and methodologies across HSS
· Introduction of tools that will support project management office efficiencies
· Support of change/project managers during various phases of the project lifecycle
· Improved engagement and delivery of an inclusive environment
· Successful business change delivered across Fund Services.

· Build relationships by communicating, influencing and negotiating effectively with business heads, senior managers, operational teams, technical experts, subject matter experts across the whole department and business areas.

· To work effectively within both the project and operational readiness team

The department is multifunctional covering Implementation, Business Change and Transformation. The
role holder will need to demonstrate their ability to:
Drive significant change in a rapidly evolving department without adversely impacting day-to-day delivery of client/internal requests
Drive process/policy standardisation across the all HSS functions
Identify and implement control enhancements required to ensure that projects are undertaken to the required quality and detail on a timely basis.
Working effectively with key stakeholders using strong influencing skills to ensure mutually satisfactory resolution of key issues and the respective responsibilities are understood and discharged.
Working in a pressurised, time-sensitive environment
Management of Risk:
Responsible for the continual assessment of operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructuring and the impact of new technology.
Demonstrates compliance with HSBC Bank plc Group standards, manuals and policies and adheres to the defined work practices, internal controls and risk management standards associated with the role.
Observation of Internal Controls:
Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business activities associated with the role, specifically HSBC Bank plc internal controls and compliance policies and manuals.
Role Context (The environment and operating conditions of the role including the extent of guidance and authority)
The jobholder will play an important part in the Department and will be responsible for the continued embedding of Operational Readiness within the HSS Change framework.
The nature of the role requires close working contact with staff and management across various Fund Services teams & locations across Europe and the Global Service Centres
An ability to make judgements and anticipate issues based on experience.
Drill down into issues and map out what needs to be done to resolve them.
Influence and negotiate across all levels inside HSS and with external third parties.
Ensure all measures comply with company standards and procedures.
Desired profile
· Demonstrable strong management skills including a good understanding of the Operational Readiness process
· Substantial experience of working cross-culturally
· Substantial experience of working in a matrixed organisational structure on multiple project types and business areas
· Good business orientation with the ability to assess stakeholder needs
Experience of running complex programs and projects in the Finance and Banking industry environment
Strong interpersonal skills and able to build and maintain relationships with the ability to communicate
- orally and in writing
- across functions and teams, up and down the chain of command
Proven ability to prioritise and manage conflicting demands
Ability to negotiate, deal with conflict, and influence people to get things done without direct authority
· Ability to quickly absorb new technologies and applications and be able to apply those to the day to day activities
· Ability to show resilience to and work well under pressure
