Murex Analyst Programmer (GFX IT Commodities)

Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC's global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world's leading international bank.

Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.

We work in small, agile DevOps teams with colleagues around the world from our offices at the Bluefin Building in Southwark, our global headquarters in Canary Wharf, and multiple other locations around the UK including Sheffield, Leeds, Barnsley and Birmingham.

Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains and with plans for continued expansion throughout 2019 and beyond, we are currently seeking a number of experienced Murex Analyst Programmers to join HSBC Technology.

Business Area Overview

HSBC Global Banking and Markets IT department provides technology solutions to support its Global Banking and Markets business worldwide. Within the Commodities area, the development them are providing solutions to business problems, as well as maintaining and improving the existing production environment.

The Commodities IT team works with a business that covers, Precious Metals, Base Metals and Energy products. With the added complexity of both physical delivery and cash settled derivatives. The business is global, operating out of HSBCs three main hubs and the technology team is also setup global in its nature. Members of the team are located in HK, Guangzhou, UK and Canada. Collaboration and coordination with Global Teams is essential for providing the right solutions and support for the global platform.


What you will be doing;

The role will see a successful candidate developing solutions within the existing V3.1.35 Murex implementation, as well as in the applications around it. The primary focus will be delivering solutions driven by Regulatory requirements in HSBC's central reporting solution, as they are defined. As well as taking up development tasks prioritised by the business/projects that are underway.

The successful candidate will join the Commodities IT team as Murex Developer focusing on the complex and varied book of work associated to our business & technology manifesto. On joining the team: the successful candidate will be expected to quickly gain a solid understanding of the existing processes, system flows and components currently in live use - displaying sufficient interpersonal and relationship building skills to liaise directly with Business stakeholders and SMEs.

The successful candidate will be expected to adopt the procedures and practices currently in-place to help ensure quality and consistency within the IT platforms. They will be encouraged to actively contribute to this process, proposing and helping to implement new procedures considered appropriate.


Role Overview
·
Deliver system solutions to the Commodities business and analyse functional requirements.

·
Deliver Regulatory changes driven by the Regulatory Team and act as Commodities IT interface into the team on a daily basis.

· Participate in the wider business initiatives.
·
Collaborate with the development resources in all locations to deliver solutions.

·
Partner with the business to come up with the right solution for the requirement.

·
Provide support cover and solutions to production issues under the DevOps model.

Desired profile

Qualifications :

What you will bring to the role;

To be successful in this role you should have proven experience within the Technology sector with knowledge of the following skills:

·  Experience in Murex 3.1 platform (v3.1.30+ preferred)
·  Murex MXMLExchange and workflow development
·  Murex Market data technology including MDCS, MDRS
·  Unix/Shell scripting
·  Sybase SQL
·  Java
·  Spring
·  Jira/Github/Nexus (ideally)
·  Experience working in a small to medium sized team, where end to end ownership is required
·  Exposure to commodities, including Precious and Base Metals
·  Understanding of trade reporting.

These roles will primarily be London based at our Head Office in Canary Wharf and at our cutting edge Technology Centre in the Bluefin building, Southwark but some travel may be required .
