Job description

Role Title: MIA Data Analyst

Role Purpose
This specific role is an integral part of the Risk and Control function within N2MI, which entails managing and overseeing the data integrity of our Agent and infrastructure costs, the management of reporting to our internal business stakeholders and supporting the systems used by the N2MI global team.
 
Key Accountabilities
Impact on the Business
Managing and overseeing the data integrity of our agent and infrastructure accounts and costs
Acting as a lead user on all N2MI systems
Preparation of external and internal N2MI reports (Stakeholder MIS, Onsite Reviews progress reports, regulatory reporting, meeting briefing material)
Co-ordination of N2MI benefits tracking and reporting by business entity
 
Customers / Stakeholders
Production and distribution of monthly agent and infrastructure cost MIS, and attendance at stakeholder meetings
Management of stakeholder issues and queries
Provision of detailed reports for pricing reviews and business process improvement initiatives
Providing a support function to the internal N2MI team
 
Leadership & Teamwork
Working closely with the Invoice Management and Account Management MIA off-shore teams based in Kuala Lumpur 
Supporting the global Network Managers on N2MI process and systems 
Working as an active member of the Risk and Control team in London
 
Operational Effectiveness & Control
Continually seeks opportunities to stream line MIA processes and reporting
Strong control skills when reviewing systems and data extracts 
Accuracy of data mining when responding to MI/audit requests and reporting
 
Major Challenges
Efficiency and timeliness of reporting
System training to all of N2MI staff
System static data maintenance
Missing/late copy invoices from Agent Banks
Understanding of HSBC Group structure
 
Role Context
·         This role is London based and will require management of a portfolio of work relating to cash and securities with specific Agent responsibilities on behalf of all HSBC entities globally in scope and with specific responsibility for internal business stakeholders
·         Secondary support / cover for other team members and their regional responsibilities and/or products
The MIA team also provides support to the Network Management function which is organised on a regional basis (with the EMEA NWM team based in London, Americas based in New York and Asia Pacific based in Singapore and Hong Kong) in terms of N2MI systems administration, reporting and Agent Bank invoice management and performance monitoring.
 
Management of Risk
·         Is aware of, and has experience in, assessing the risk associated with using Agents for custody and cash services
·         Is aware of the Operational Risk associated with the cash settlement process and acts in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations
·         Is aware of the requirement to adhere strictly to client/business confidentiality rules
Is aware of and understands the requirement to meet internal compliance and regulatory reporting requirements
 
Observation of Internal Controls
·         Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.

Desired profile

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications
Minimum 4 years of experience/knowledge working in Global Custodian, Broker Dealer Industry, Network Management, Securities and Cash industry
Proven data analyst experience with advanced Excel skills
Strong control skills, high work standards and attention to detail
Experience of managing a broad portfolio of work
Strong client/stakeholder management skills
Excellent communication skills
