Role Title: MI & Planning Analyst

Business: HSBC Securities Services Europe, Finance

Location: Edinburgh

Role Purpose:

To provide HSS Europe MI and Planning support across European jurisdictions, delivering accurate, timely and meaningful reporting and analysis of performance for HSS Europe. As support to the Head of HSS Europe Finance and Country Finance Controllers, to contribute to the wider management of the HSS Europe business.

Monthly MI Reporting

Prepare and deliver Flash and Final reporting results for the European jurisdictions

Preparation of comprehensive monthly MI reporting packs for the HSS Europe jurisdictions, ensuring that MI processes and procedures are continuously improved.

Work with wider HSS Finance teams to deliver new initiatives and implement new and robust MI processes, systems and procedures to provide consistent, timely and focussed MI across HSS Europe.

Planning and forecasting

To support the HSS Europe finance teams by providing accurate, timely and meaningful planning, forecasting and analysis of business performance. A key element of this role will be to demonstrate the effective co-ordination of Forecasting and Planning across HSS Europe.

Work closely with Europe sites to complete the annual planning process, including pulling together detailed forecast inputs, and submitting forecast data into the TM1 finance planning system.

Client and Product Profitability

Preparation of quarterly client and product profitability reporting for the HSS Europe sites. Participate in HSS profit improvement initiatives and development of new and improved methods for capturing and reporting client profitability.

Provide appropriate ongoing support and client profitability analysis to Country Relationship managers to assist with pricing and planning decisions, and follow up action tracking on clients with less than satisfactory cost income ratios.

Provision of monthly client profitability reporting as required to meet local business requirements.

Asset reporting

Production and delivery of assets reporting across the traditional and alternative product range, tracking changes in valuation from month to month and analysing the key reasons for changes in AUA.

Headcount Reporting

Deliver appropriate headcount reporting for the HSS Europe sites in an appropriate level of detail to meet the business needs, covering both on and offshore positions including capacity reporting and relevant productivity ratios.

Manage a tracking mechanism for HSS Europe sites to understand the movement in headcount from period to period.

Debtors and Controllable Cost Reporting

Preparation of debtors reports and controllable cost reporting for HSS Europe jurisdictions.

General

Demonstrate a sound knowledge of the securities market and the associated market infrastructure, with related MI implications.

Respond to adhoc MI requests as required to meet HSS Europe business requirements.

Represent HSS Europe Finance with authority in all MI dealings within HSBC.

Participate in market infrastructure change initiatives, providing input from a MI perspective.

Contribute to the achievement of target KPI's relating to the Fee Billing service

Management of Risk:

Responsible for the continual assessment of operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructuring and the impact of new technology.

Demonstrates compliance with HSBC Bank plc Group standards, manuals and policies and adheres to the defined work practices, internal controls and risk management standards associated with the role.

Observation of Internal Controls:

Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.

Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business activities associated with the role, specifically HSBC Bank plc internal controls and compliance policies and manuals.

Desired profile

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications:

Experience and track record of successful delivery in an MI and planning environment.

Strong academic and professional track record working toward a relevant CCAB qualification

Able to work in a pressurised environment, manage priorities effectively and see issues through to resolution

Advanced MS Office skills in particular Excel

Strategic and creative thinker with excellent problem solving skills

Ability to manage multiple Workstreams at the same time across different geographic locations

Experience of working in a global environment

Proven experience in identifying and managing the risks, issues and dependencies related to complex projects.

Sound knowledge of the securities industry and global market infrastructure.

Personal qualities of stability, maturity and authority and an ability to work with staff at all levels.

Relationship management and networking skills

Team player and people motivator and track record in delivering to demanding timescales.

Excellent 360 degree communication skills and interpersonal skills both verbally and in writing.
