As part of the Compliance function, MSS Regulatory Compliance facilitates adherence to applicable regulations and standards by setting the policies which cover HSBC’s regulatory requirements and mitigate conduct and reputational risk issues. The team strives to remain ahead of the regulatory change agenda and ensures the business understands the implications and is prepared for change. It monitors how the Global Businesses and Functions manage their responsibilities regarding complying with the regulations and helps resolve compliance deficiencies.
We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our MSS Regulatory Compliance team, working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets.
Role Overview :
To provide pro-active Compliance support to MSS in order to assist management in ensuring that the business is conducted in accordance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations and codes of practice.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Support MSS Compliance team to provide functional support and guidance on Compliance matters to impacted businesses in liaison with the respective local Compliance lead and/or Country Head of Compliance
• Support and assist MSS Compliance team and management and the LoB Compliance function to comply with all relevant external regulations, internal codes/policies and good market practice.
• Provide Compliance support in implementing material regulatory change.
• Proactively assist management in identifying and containing compliance risk by preparing Risk Stewardship MI and inferences and managing governance submissions
• Assist in the creation of periodic training materials to the business in terms of policies, procedures, and practices necessary to achieve compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
• Assist with Group/regulatory reporting and ad-hoc projects as required.
• Assist with the roll out of best practices within the MSS business in MENAT as well as Risk & Compliance and support the country Regulatory Compliance teams as required.
• Keep abreast of regulatory trends, changes to Group standards and business developments for self-awareness and growth as well assist in wider Compliance read-across initiatives.
• Escalate all material and significant breaches or potential breaches of regulations as soon as practicable to local and functional Compliance leads as well as business management.
• Assist the MSS Compliance team in the oversight and challenge of the risk management practices across MSS MENAT ensuring the business objectives are aligned with regulatory requirements.
• Support MSS Compliance team to manage regulatory and reputational risk by providing appropriate Compliance coverage and expertise.
Requirements
Experience & Qualifications:
• Experience of working in a Markets & Securities Services related role is preferred.
• An active interest in risk management and an innate ability to apply logical reasoning to conduct oriented outcomes.
• A fair understanding of the key regulators in the MENAT region preferably including their culture, policies and expectations.
• An active interest in the understanding of the potential impact of foreign regulatory developments for Markets & Securities Services activity in MENAT
• Broad Markets product knowledge is an advantage.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, together with the ability to support decisions with sound reasoning.
• Strong team player and people skills
• Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both Compliance colleagues and the Business.
• University graduate
