Data Operations (DATAOPS) is functionally responsible for all client related static data (Custody- SSV, entity, account & SSI data), covering all products/ asset classes within Global Markets business. DATAOPS has an on-shore and off-shore model with current staff located in HUB sites for on-shore support and the majority of the RTB staff split between Manila and Kuala Lumpur to provide full business resiliency.
What you’ll do:
Principal accountabilities for this roles as aligned to Group Leadership capabilities are as follows:
Understanding and translating Group Strategy into immediate business/function and aligning direction for self and teams
· Understand customer needs and the business environment.
· Ability to engage the offshore staff and build the knowledge of DATAOPS purpose, in larger scheme of things.
Setting world class standards and embedding these in immediate business/function area
· Engage with all Regional Stakeholders and ensure regional service PLA are consistently delivered in the region for Full On-boarding, Partial Services and Ongoing Maintenance.
Leading from the front by courageously setting and executing stretching goals for the immediate business/function area
· Direct line responsibility of a DATAOPS team in offshore location i.e. Bangalore or Kuala Lumpur
Maintain enhanced service levels for the Product Area by improving the quality and productivity of offshore teams.
· Develop staff to achieve business / individual goals, sharing knowledge and experience and providing assistance on referred issues.
· Up-skilling of the existing team to increase process efficiency and facilitate the move of more operational tasks from regional teams.
· Improve the employee engagement in offshore teams.
Authentically engaging a diverse range of stakeholders to deliver at pace
· Establish and maintain strong relationships with peers on various product areas.
· Enhance the existing subject matter expertise in offshore teams and harness talent to deliver at pace.
· Manage escalations and communication of any identified issues while on-boarding or maintaining data.
Making considered decisions that protect and enhance HSBC values, reputation and business
· Contribute towards addressing DATAOPS operational risk disciplines and audit findings.
· Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including addressing control issues identified in the AM audit, working closely with Global Banking and Global Infrastructure support functions where cross-functional solutions are required.
· To continually re-assess the operational risks inherent in the function, due to changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures, management restructures, and the impact of new technology.
· With BCP established, test resiliency both directions periodically.
Requirements
What you will need to succeed in the role:
· Experience in managing small sized teams in offshore service centers.
· Strong results orientated delivery skills.
· Ability to establish good working relationships with various stakeholders.
· Good understanding of Markets & Securities Services products e.g. FX, Equities, Fixed Income Bonds or Derivatives
· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, appropriate for interaction with colleagues and business partners at all levels.
· Leadership skills to manage resources to improve customer service and productivity levels
· Good decision making skills and ability to escalate as appropriate in complex situations.
· Energy and enthusiasm with a positive ‘can do’ attitude and ability to self-start and motivate
· Ability to manage resources to continually improve customer service and achieve productivity targets.
· Graduate in any discipline with strong academic background
· Ability to recognize areas for development.
· Ability to identify operational risks and suggest mitigation plan to offshore regional head.
What additional skills will be good to have?
· A good understanding of the overall securities industry from an operational and regulatory perspective.
· Knowledge of excel.
· Knowledge on MS Visual Basic is an advantage.
