Job description
The role of the Litigation Advisor is to lead and direct the performance of all Collections activities across a defined region, collections function or capability. They oversee the successful implementation of all strategic initiatives within Collections for that region/function in order to undertake the collection of arrears across a variety of financial products, in line with the credit loss plan and the target customer experience.
The job will involve all or some of the following tasks:
· Support, determine or initiate appropriate actions to ensure the efficient and effective progression of a specific Collections process flow or multiple Collections process flows in order to deliver a professional service to our customers.
· Ensure the integrity of the process flow(s) across assigned function(s), whilst optimising the designed output in order to contribute to help our customers resolve their delinquency problems, and by doing so, creates a favourable opinion of our organisation and an increased willingness to repay their commitments.
· Adhere to all regulatory requirements and Collections Operations policies and procedures.
Your responsibilities will include:
· Accountability for delinquent personal debts, and will be required to ensure that the most effective litigation and enforcement action is utilized for the recovery of debt
· To protect our business by undertaking risk assessments for all litigation and enforcement actions;
· To grow our business by resolving accounts by obtaining Court Judgments; enforcing Judgments; or by negotiating repayment plans or settlements which best meet the needs of the customer and the Bank.
· To protect our business by ensuring the fair treatment of customers throughout the litigation process.
· To grow our business by ensuring the Litigation team achieves it recoveries target, whilst ensuring that we control legal costs.
· To protect our business by ensuring that all activities undertaken comply with the relevant consumer legislation, Civil Procedure Rules and the Solicitors Code of Conduct.
· A Collections Advisor (Litigation) needs to be professional, knowledgeable, decisive and able to adapt to meet the specific circumstances of each account and the needs of each individual customer. They are expected to be a dependable, goal orientated, motivated team member who takes personal ownership for their continuous improvement and keeps abreast of changes to legislation that affects litigation debt recovery.
· To positively cooperate toward total team goals, willingly share knowledge and information with others and participating in open communication. To positively encourage cooperation and teamwork,
· To ensure the Litigation recovery activities comply with agreed Collections policy and procedures, and relevant legislation (including but not limited to: Solicitors Code of Conduct; Civil Procedure Rules; Data Protection Act; and Lending Code.)

Qualifications :
The ideal candidate for this role will have the below experience and qualifications:
· Excellent communication skills - both spoken and written and to be able to communicate in a confident professional manner.
· Previous experience of delivering excellent customer service. A good knowledge of the banks policies and procedures for personal borrowing. Experience of planning and prioritising their own time and working to deadlines
· Decisive, ready to take action and make decisions. Experience of personally complying with business processes, rules and regulations
· Previous experience of delivering an excellent customer service
· An open, flexible and supportive approach to change and innovation
· Consistently achieved objectives set for them and taken action to improve their own performance
· Both spoken and written communication skills with experience of sharing information effectively, in a clear, concise and professional manner
· Experience of personally complying with business processes, rules and regulations
In addition to the details listed above, the ideal candidate will have a track record of:
· A willingness to learn and a determination to develop knowledge of litigation and recoveries regulation is essential.
· Knowledge of HSBC's policies and procedures for personal borrowing.
· Organised, self-disciplined and able to work with minimum supervision and to tight deadlines.
· Decisive, ready to take action and make decisions

· Attention to detail.

· A law degree or other legal qualification would be beneficial but it is not essential. Good organisational skills, be self-disciplined and able to work with minimum supervision and to tight deadlines.
