Job description
· Join the North American Utilities Team as a Linux / Unix System Administrator
· The position requires 10 + years of system administrator experience in multiplatform Unix and Linux environments, with hands-on expertise in networking, scripting, and systems integration.
· Strong project lead skills with a proven track record of delivering complex global technical projects on time and within budget.
· Manage project delays effectively communicating proactively to Management, escalate where necessary.
· Strong leadership skills and a good team player, with the ability to virtually manage and coordinate resources across multiple countries
· Be familiar with product security vulnerability management. Proactively plan and manage their impact and remediation
· Provide level 3 support for Utilities owned applications
· Strong familiarity with Google Cloud Platform and Amazon Web Services
· Must be able to understand underlying architecture of systems and recommend design and implementation patterns, especially opportunities to move to Cloud offerings
· Manage projects using Devops methodologies as well as traditional approaches
· Work with the Management team to identify and roadmap the elimination of technical debt and move strategic products to the Cloud
· Work closely with stakeholders on new Cloud based products or features and improvements to existing products
· Automate routine tasks where possible via Devops tooling such as Ansible
· Continue to improve Utilities DevOps tooling and practices
Desired profile
Qualifications :
· A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, IT Infrastructure or similar discipline.
· 10+ years of experience specialized in Linux / Unix System Administration working on server-based operating systems
· Extensive Solaris 10.x, 11.x, LDOM configuration experience
· Strong hands-on knowledge of VMware ESXi
· Strong knowledge of SUSE and RHEL operating systems
· Veritas Volume manager installation and maintenance
· NetBackup client and media server installations and maintenance
· Strong working knowledge of Hewlett Packer Server Automation (HPSA) tool
· Working experience on Windows Active Directory and LDAP
· Integration of various network related services like NFS, NIS +, and DNS
· Basic knowledge of networking devices such as F5 load balancers.
· Troubleshooting skills with network protocols such as DNS, TCPIP, SMTP, and SNMP
· Experienced in installation of Operating Systems, Packages and Patches, adding peripherals, System Security, backup and recovery
· Experience in System performance analysis and tuning, system panic and problem diagnosis
· Working experience with WebSphere Application Server, WebLogic or Tomcat
· Demonstrate a current knowledge of latest DevOps tooling and practices.
· Experience of containerisation, ideally using Docker / Kubernetes
· Experience in build and configuration management ideally using Ansible
· Willingness to work flexible hours for production, backup and on-call support for 24x7 environments
· Excellent technical skills, with strong knowledge of current and emerging technologies
· Strong communication abilities. Strong documentation abilities
· Experience working in fast-paced, deadline-oriented environments
TECHNICAL SKILLS
· Operating systems – Linux, Unix, Sun Solaris, IBM AIX, HP-UX, Windows
· Languages: PerI, Visual Basic (VB), C, C++, Python, Java /JEE a plus
· Networking: TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, VPN
· Database - Oracle 11.x, 12.x, DB2 11.x, MySQL, MongoDB
· Storage – SAN, NAS, ECS
