We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Lead Consultant Specialist.

Principal responsibilities
· Designing, delivering and operating centralised cloud platform solutions to solve common engineering and operational problems, such as monitoring, logging, build, cost optimization etc., as the need arises, to ensure engineering teams are focusing on delivering value.
· Building and managing cloud environments to enable application deployments into test and production.
· Working on a large distributed k8s (EKS) platform which consists of many clusters, nodes, and deployments.
· Create self-service automation to allow ease of adoption for tenants using the platform.
· Building repeatable solutions on AWS using Infrastructure As Code methods (e.g. Terraform and Ansible)
· Ensuring the cloud-hosted solutions are integrated with or consume centrally provided HSBC services.
· Participation in code reviews and approvals; and definition of continuously improving code standards.
· Ensuring cloud infrastructure and services are built and configured in compliance with centrally defined Digital Cloud blueprints, design patterns and standards, reusing approved components as far as possible.
· Building and supporting continuous integration (CI), continuous delivery (CD) and continuous testing processes for cloud infrastructure and services.
· Operational activities to ensure software artefacts and base images are regularly patched
· Development work to support automation of well-understood operational activities in order to minimise error-prone or laborious work.
· Supporting all forms of testing of cloud services: functional, non-functional, performance, security and reliability.
· Updating support and operational documentation as required
· Remediation as required of any emergent issues within cloud environments.
Requirements
· Understanding of and experience of working within a DevOps culture
· Infrastructure as a Code concepts and techniques
· Understanding of CI/CD and some exposure to relevant toolsets
· Security and Compliance, e.g. IAM and cloud compliance/auditing/monitoring tools
· Customer/stakeholder focus. Ability to build strong relationships with Cloud Services, cross functional development teams, and local and global IT teams.
· Good leadership and teamwork skills - Works collaboratively with cross-functional ‘pods’ to provide the digital cloud capability/skills required to deliver the service.
· Operational effectiveness - delivers solutions that align to approved design patterns and security standards
· Risk management effectiveness
· Excellent scripting and automation skills in Bash, Python or similar.
· Experience in full automation and configuration management
· Experience with scheduling of Docker containers in a platform like Kubernetes
· Ability to quickly acquire new skills and learn new tools
· Proven AWS experience.
· Demonstrable experience of Linux administration and scripting.
· Understanding of hybrid cloud networking using DirectConnect and VPNs.
· Experience working within an Agile environment delivering software solutions.
· Experience operating in highly regulated industry, e.g. Financial Services
· Experience of supporting microservices at scale in a global organisation, ideally in a public cloud environment.
· Experience with using introspection tools like CloudWatch, DataDog and Splunk to troubleshoot live services, develop and maintain operational dashboards and fine tune alerts.
