Job description
The individual will support the Head of Credit Strategy Americas produce high quality top down (macro) Americas DM & EM and sector thematic research for external and internal stakeholders through our regular publications and special ad hoc pieces. The individual will be expected to work with the Head Credit Strategy Americas & global team on themes and provide quantitative /data analytics support with the guidance of our quantitative credit strategist based in London. An ideal candidate would have experience in credit markets with a focus on Americas DM& EM Credit as an analyst / PM on the sell / buy side and excellent quantitative skills.
Scope & Impact:
Assist the Head of Credit Strategy Americas & global credit team enhance HSBC’s research capabilities in a Global Macro Credit Strategy product
Provide quantitative support and assist with development of data analytics with guidance of our quantitative credit strategist based in London
Participate in and contribute to the teams publications & and special ad hoc pieces
Promote the activities of HSBC Global Banking and Markets both within and outside the Group through contribution to presentations and multi-asset publications
Principal Accountabilities:
Work within the Global Fixed Income Team ( key : close collaboration with European & Asian Credit research teams ) with main guidance & direction from Head of Credit Strategy Americas
Responsible for assisting US Head of Credit Strategy & wider team delivering quality top down thematic corporate & financial credit research output (focus on Americas DM, LatAm & CEEMEA )
Assisting identify investable macro , top down and sector themes in the credit markets
Providing quantitative support and assist with development of data analytics with guidance of our quantitative credit strategist based in London
Contribute to regular publications and special ad hoc pieces and cross asset notes
Ensures compliance monitoring is in place, including processes for management of operational risk, in accordance with HSBC and regulatory standards.

Expected to make the necessary decisions to carry out own job responsibilities and meet primary goals and objectives. Evaluates and escalates complex issues and/or problems to manager.

Observation of Internal Controls
Each employee must maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators. Any failures to comply with the above should be reflected in year-end performance assessments.
Each employee must understand, follow and demonstrate compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.
Desired profile
Good knowledge of Global Credit Markets having worked as a macro & quantitative strategist or PM on the buy /sell side
Experience with financial modeling and/or forecasting / analytics tools
Experience providing Macro Credit Strategy & quantitative analysis in an established institution
University Educated and higher degree or equivalent preferred ( e.g. MBA, CFA, MSe)
Excellent degree in numerate discipline from a strong university or related field of research from a strong university
NASD Series 7 and Series 63 registered/ FCA registration
Thorough understanding of FI Credit & Rates products and markets, regulation and business drivers
Strong written, interpersonal & presentation skills
Excellent analytical skills
Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word & Powerpoint skills
