Role purpose
The Financial Crime (FC) Advisory team is a Second line of defence (LOD) function, responsible for reviewing and challenging the activities of the Group’s businesses (also referred to as “the First LOD”) to ensure that they effectively manage as “Risk Owners” the Regulatory and Financial Crime Compliance risks inherent in or arising from the conduct of their activities and for which they are responsible. The Second LOD consists of 'Risk Stewards' who are independent of the commercial risk-taking activities undertaken by the First LOD. The FC Advisory function is a Risk Steward for a number of non-financial risks in accordance with HSBC Group’s risk framework.
The FC Function also operates a set of critical controls on behalf of the FLOD by harnessing intelligence, analytics, technology, detection and investigation.
Main activities
· Help the LAM/MX Head of Antimoney-Laundering (AML) Head in its regional FC Chief of Staff and Strategy role by carrying out strategy and project management activities for the LAM FC team at a regional level.
· Coordinate the strategic projects and requests from different stakeholders (Local and global senior management, Governance bodies, 1LoD, among others) within FC teams, aiming to be as effective as possible in delivering the expected results.
· Provide direction and oversee the correct and timely execution of the FC strategic plan, providing support to the tasks to be caried when required.
· Design and implement a communication plan to let all relevant stakeholders know about the FC agenda and actions carried out on a periodic basis.
· Support in the drafting and review of FC reports and notes for relevant stakeholders and governance bodies in English and Spanish.
· Help and support the interactions between all FC areas, Risk & Compliance Chief Operating Office, Compliance Transformation, 1LoD, HR and others.
· Design and implement an efficiency and agile plan for LAM/MX FC team to assess on a periodic basis the efficiency f all FC teams and ensure the adoption of the agile methodology within FC.
Requirements
· Strong knowledge and experience on strategy and project management activities within a global Financial Institution.
· Wider Financial Crime subject matter expertise highly desirable.
· Fluent in English (native speaker preferred).
· Excellent organisational skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
· Strong experience of working with large scale initiatives and projects (either as a stakeholder or part of the transformation teams) that have delivered multiple changes and improvements to controls and processes.
· Understanding of the HSBC structure, its business, and HSBC’s corporate culture.
· Strong research skills, including scoping, analysis and written presentation for quick-turnaround, medium and long-term projects.
· Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills in English and Spanish, inter-personal skills and dealing with executives at all levels.
· Ability to develop efficient and effective solutions to complex operational issues.
· Ability to prioritise conflicting demands and problem solve in a dynamic environment.
· Foster positive and professional working relationships with relevant stakeholders, including senior managers.
· Promote and support the interaction between the areas involved in FC strategic projects.
