Job description

The role of the Pipeline Engineer is embedded in a team responsible for a product (the Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery pipeline for the Digital Platform) end to end. As well as designing, implementing, integrating and testing pipeline capabilities, you will be working closely with cross functional product teams on the Digital Platform to ensure what you build meets their needs. You will be at the forefront of bring in new technologies to the Bank and helping to change processes to support an agile DevOps way of working.

Your responsibilities will include:
· You will be wearing multiple hats – a technical innovator, a subject matter expert, a mentor & guide, a consultant and a trouble-shooter.
· As a pipeline engineer, your core responsibility will be developing and maintaining pipeline capabilities for the platform user to consume. The core pipeline technology is Jenkins - writing Jenkins pipeline steps using the Java based Jenkins plugin framework, as well as Groovy scripts using the Jenkins libraries and defining templates using the Jenkins Workflow plugin. Supporting technologies include GitHub, Maven and Nexus. Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Mulesoft Anypoint Platform, Spring Boot, AppDynamics, Splunk, Selenium, Cucumber, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Ansible are technologies for the wider Digital Platform, so you will also get involved with some or all of them.
· As a member of the pipeline team, you will also provide both production and development support.

Qualifications :

The ideal candidate for this role will have the below experience and qualifications:
·  Demonstrable experience as a Java software engineer
·  Experience in agile development (scrum, kanban)
·  Experience in JUnit and Test Driven Development
·  A track record of constantly looking for ways to do things better and an excellent understanding of the mechanism necessary to successfully implement change
·  A flexible and adaptable management style with experience of developing yourself and others
·  Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences
·  Experience of creating and deploying comprehensive business/operating plans which consistently deliver desired results
·  A successful track record of delivering complex projects and/or programmes, utilising appropriate techniques and tools to ensure and measure success

In addition to the details listed above, the ideal candidate will have a track record of:
·  Experience in cloud and DevOps technologies and tools (Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, AWS, Ansible)
·  Groovy scripting
·  Splunk

The base location of this role will be Blue Fin Building, London
