About HSBC Operations, Services & Technology (HOST)

HSBC Operations, Services and Technology provides essential operational services, IT and technical support to help HSBC function effectively and improve our customer service. HOST is made up of Global Operations, IT, COO Office, Corporate Real Estate and Global Procurement.

Our global IT team develops and manages HSBC's systems and technology infrastructure. They develop, implement and support software and IT services and processes that allow HSBC to remain at the forefront of high-quality banking systems. They work across a range of technology platforms and development disciplines, from mainframe to mobile technologies.

A Day in the Life of a Futures Development Specialist include the following:

Futures IT is a global team providing RTB and CTB Technology services to the Futures Front and Post Trade business areas.
This is a CTB role and involves working on projects aimed at enhancing STP within operations, and introducing new systems to help improve efficiency.
This will include responsibilities for the design and development of new systems and flagship projects.

This is predominantly an analyst/Dev/PM role in Futures IT focusing on the global applications we provide (in-house & vendor based) for the Futures middle office areas.

This is a good position for someone who wants a mixture of business and technology working directly with both the business units, and other IT groups within HSBC. The role will entail project work following the full project life cycle from analysis, design, development and testing through to deployment.

Principle Accountabilities:
· Provide support in technical design, development, implementation and maintenance of HSBC IT systems to supported business units;
· Prepare detailed specifications that describe input, output and logical operation; and convert them into a series of instructions coded in a computer language;
· Work with change business analysts and architects to define and plan the introduction of new systems or changes to existing systems.
· Apply specialist expertise in the development of IT systems with the objective of optimising operational performance and improving quality whilst increasing cost-effectiveness;
· Supervise the rectification of production system issues with the minimum disruption to the business;
· Develop an expert-level understanding of major local systems;
· Ensure compliance with all relevant internal instructions (FIMs, GSMs, circulars), internal control standards and external regulatory requirements, including the management of operational risk and adherence to the Group's standards of ethical behaviour.

Desired profile

Qualifications :

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications:
·  Knowledge of Futures trading and the clearing and back office process.
·  Prior experience working closely with middle and back office staff.
·  Good all round programming skills including Java, Spring, XML, VBA, VB, MS Access, Business Objects
·  Good all round database skills including SQL Server, SYBASE, Oracle, building and writing SQL queries
·  Quick learner, able to adapt existing IT skill set to environment
·  Solid experience with Agile
·  Good knowledge of MS-Windows(2000/2003/XP)
·  Unix, preferably SUN/Solaris knowledge
·  Good knowledge Linux
·  Good communication skills. Must be able to interact and work well with, vendors, futures business and other IT groups.
·  There is a heavy emphasis on delivering projects globally so candidate must be able to exhibit capability to work on global projects.
·  Excellent written skills
·  Must be analytical and have excellent problem solving skills
·  Must be highly motivated, self sufficient and have well developed organizational skills
·  Pragmatic, whilst remaining focused under frequently changing priorities
·  Proactive when handling problems and projects.
·  Experience in breaking down projects into realistic deliverable items and manage their delivery from start to finish.
·  Good at multitasking.
·  Exposure to all stages of the application development process/lifecycle.
·  Good capacity planning skills
·  Proven structured programming techniques, and ability to follow group standards and system methodologies.
·  Demonstrated ability in required programming language.
