About Global Banking & Markets

Global Banking and Markets provides financial services and products to corporates, governments and institutions worldwide, building partnerships with them to help them achieve consistent, long-term performance. We use the strength of HSBC's international network to connect emerging and mature markets, covering key growth areas. Our products and services include advisory, financing, prime services, research and analysis, securities services, trading and sales, and transaction banking. We serve our customers through teams of relationship managers and product specialists, who work to build a comprehensive understanding of each client's financial requirements and develop services to meet those needs.

Our Investment Banking Associate will have a desire to work within a dynamic, international environment, researching and analyzing financial and operational information of select companies and industries. In addition, they will support deal teams in the execution of live mandates, and perform qualitative and quantitative due diligence on new and existing target relationships.

Principle Accountabilities include:

· Performing complex financial modeling and valuation analysis as part of client / industry evaluations.
· Creating statistical exhibits and trend analysis of financial performance for client and internal presentations.
· Independent compilation of industry analysis.
· Preparation of presentation and marketing materials.
· Support marketing, structuring and execution of investment banking transactions.
· Providing analytical findings to deal teams.
· Support development of marketing or pitch materials.

Desired profile

Qualifications :

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications:

·  Fluently bi-lingual in French / English a requirement, with third language capabilities considered an asset.
·  An undergraduate degree with a focus in finance, economics, or accounting with a demonstrated record of outstanding academic achievement.
·  Investment banking experience required, with a minimum 3 years of deal experience.
·  Relevant experience in investment banking including mergers and acquisitions and /or corporate finance or principal investing would be considered an asset.
·  Excellent analytical skills in business, financial, and credit analysis areas.
·  Highly skilled in building complex financial models and applying valuation techniques
·  Ability to prioritize tasks, and attentively review, assess, and provide detailed information daily on multiple projects in an organized manner.
·  Ability to be creative, insightful and resourceful in performance of duties.
·  Strong interpersonal skills used within a demanding team environment.
·  Highly developed written and oral communication skills.
·  Expertise in financial applications and database management tools
·  Strong proficiency in MS Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint
