Job description



The GCB5 Investment Analyst (pensions) role is based within HSBC Bank (UK) Pension Scheme.

The role of the Investment Analyst (pensions) is to:

Provide support to the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and Senior Investment Manager (SIM) in managing the assets of the HSBC UK Pension Scheme (DB and DC sections). This role sits within the HSBC Bank's Pension Scheme Executive (PSE).

· Assist the CIO and SIM in the execution of their duties including undertaking research activities and the production of standard reports that inform the investment portfolios for the UK pension scheme.
· Manage, develop further and lead the implementation of the Scheme's Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) policy and engagement with stakeholders.

The successful candidate will get the opportunity to work in a small team that is responsible for managing, at over £30bn, one of the UK's largest pension funds. The role will also provide the opportunity to work with external fund managers.

For the successful the candidate, the role could open up opportunities within HSBC as well as within the wider market as an investment strategist, investment manager or roles within the wider fund management industry.

Your responsibilities will include:
· Leading the Trustee's Environment & Social Governance (ESG) work stream, including engagement with internal and external stakeholders, monitoring investment manager's voting and engagement with investee companies and reporting to the Trustee.
· Working with the Trustee and PSE to develop ESG policies that relate to the Scheme's investment risks.
· Embed ESG risks into the Trustee's Risk Management Framework
· Undertaking the day-to-day investment administration to support the desired approach to investment governance (for example, designing MI reporting from managers, organizing manager monitoring meetings, writing up notes from meetings, following up on specific actions that arise from meetings etc.) to support the CIO and SIM's focus on the Scheme's investment strategy.
· Producing reports to the Asset Liability Committee (ALCo) (Investment committee) which will include reports on compliance with EMIR (European derivative regulation), Employee Related Investments and Breaches of Investment Management Agreements Reports.

Qualifications :

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

·  Be CFA Qualified or possess a Actuarial qualification (or similar level)
·  Have relevant product knowledge, including knowledge of investment for pension funds
·  Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. investment management or consulting
·  Experience of working with ESG related issues in an investment context
·  Achieved targets and met expectations whilst supporting and encouraging others to do the same
·  Planned projects and activities systematically in line with business priorities, using a variety of analysis and problem solving techniques
·  Experience of successful budget management and use of numerical data to assesses and report on performance and/or identify business issues and opportunities
