Job description
HSBC internship positions are an exciting opportunity for anyone interested in pursuing a career in a global financial organization. Interns at HSBC will be given an experience of a full-time job within the structure of a robust learning program. They will be responsible for a variety of tasks while working in one or more businesses or functions. The intent is to provide an opportunity to learn about HSBC and contribute to its success and at the same time gain knowledge and expertise in the financial industry.
Impact on the Business
Internship responsibilities vary depending on the business or function in which one works. Below is a sampling of some of the projects interns will work on:
High quality professional day-to-day execution of engagements and special projects
Perform analytical reviews and conduct research on a variety of clients across multiple industries
Quantitative and qualitative analysis, e.g. investment analysis, market research and portfolio construction across product lines.
Assist in brainstorming and idea planning
Research different industries
Participate in client meetings
Customers / Stakeholders
Social networking, i.e. form relationships you can build on in the future
Leadership & Teamwork
Work in teams to identify opportunities for efficiencies, cost-savings, growth, etc.
Participate in formal and/or informal training to gain expose to HSBC's culture and provide you with a knowledge base to draw upon throughout the internship and beyond.
Operational Effectiveness & Control
Complete duties specific to assigned area of the Company.
May assist with special projects to support departmental initiatives.
Ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations affecting area supported.
To implement the Group compliance policy locally by containing compliance risk in liaison with the Head of Group Compliance, Global Business Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer, ensuring adequate compliance resources and training, fostering a compliance culture and optimizing relations with regulators.
Complete other responsibilities, as assigned.
Major Challenges
Understanding HSBC's work processes, environment and culture in a short period of time.
Management of Risk
Ensure compliance, operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC or regulatory standards and policies; and optimize relations with regulators by addressing any issues.
Desired profile
BA/BS, all majors are considered, concentration in Business Administration or Finance a plus
Quantitative, analytical, communication and leadership skills
Proficiency and willingness to learn new processes
A willingness to commit to the full internship period (typically June-August)
Candidates should have a desire to obtain full time employment following graduation
