Head of Equipment Finance UK
 
Role Purpose
The main priority and objective is to have overall responsibility and management of HSBC Equipment Finance Ltd UK for Hire Purchase and Leasing products and to generate both interest and fee based income. The main areas of focus are Sales (Business Banking, Middle Market Enterprises, Large Corporates and Global Banking), Credit and Risk, Middle Office, Business Management/Pricing and Operational Control.
The primary objective is to create, implement and drive a dedicated strategy for Equipment Finance, which fully aligns into the global Commercial Banking Lending Team and UK CMB.
 
Principal Accountabilities
The role holder is required to lead teams of sales and distribution staff to make effective customer contact through inbound and/or outbound channels, as required, to proactively broaden and deepen relationships with customers through identifying opportunities to meet a customer’s requirements.
The role holder is expected to grow income and deliver added value business in an integrated manner with the HSBC CMB (Commercial Banking) proposition. The teams are tasked with bringing both new-to-bank business using the asset finance product’s wedge credentials alongside servicing an existing HEF and HSBC customer base.
To deliver a clear portfolio review in terms of Credit and Risk. To ensure Credit and Risk are managed according to the HSBC policy and it aligns into the Credit Central Team and the team ensures low levels of risks within HEF are maintained at all times.
Ensure Middle Office is managed to a high level of standard at all times. Focus is on on-boarding, admin, document processing, management of customer satisfaction throughout entire relationship and FTE control.
To make sure we inherit a consistent approach within Business Management to deliver a high level of standard throughout HEF in terms of Information Technology, Pricing, product efficiency and projects.
To be certain that HEF remains within the Global Compliance Standards and complaints are maintained to a minimum level. The Operational Control Team to work in partnership with the Chief Operating Officer Business Risk and Controls Manager Team and Compliance department to ensure HEF are in respect of all procedures and rules that are of mandatory for HSBC.
To use own initiative and knowledge of the current market positions and trends to develop and implement new strategies within HEF that result in growth of revenue and increase customer experience and satisfaction.

Sound knowledge of Risk and Compliance policy and adherence to this within HEF
Commercial orientation – Well-developed focus on the “bottom line”, sees opportunities to maximise profit whilst operating good cost disciplines. Excellent awareness of financial implications of actions taken on business unit and the contribution to overall group profitability. 
Product knowledge and lending experience – current legal and technical knowledge including full understanding of relevant policies, procedures and credit guidelines.
Good knowledge of instalment finance industry and products, including a sound awareness of competitor product and activity
