We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as an Head of Credit Portfolio Management.
Global Functions (GFs) play a vital role in supporting the bank’s Global Businesses and offer a broad range of career opportunities in areas from legal, risk and finance to human resources, sustainability, marketing and communications. Their operational and functional teams around the world help HSBC’s Global Businesses to operate efficiently and effectively on a day-to-day basis. They also focus on controls and governance to reduce risk and protect the Group’s reputation.
Principal Accountabilities:
Impact on the Business
· Optimize credit portfolios and strategies in order to maximize profit as well as controlling losses withion AOP. Develop credit experiments using a “test and learn” framework.
· Work closely with credit policy teams to analyse opprotunities to optimize credit policies.
· Ensure changes to credit policies/strategies are implemented in system accurately and timely.
· Leverage new sources of data and enhance infrastructure to improve customer decisioning.
· Active involvement in designing the lending digital journey and considering risks/mitigations.
· Support Basel, Stress Testing/ICAAP and other projects.
Customers / Stakeholders
· Determine credit portfolio strategy in order to maximize customer service without compromising credit standard
· Build strong relationships, adopting a joined up approach, to deliver business requirements at pace and with minimum conflict.
· Maintain close dialogue/cooperation with credit policy, front line, underwriting/collection teams, the business and external stakeholders such as the SBV and Credit bureaus
· Deliver processing efficiency and high levels of customer services.
· Instilling a proactive and joined up management approach to ensure Retail Risk are working together with all WPB business units when managing the risk strategies and recommending changes.
· Work with counterparts in Regional and Group WPB Risk to fully leverage group skills and deploy automated decision wherever possible. This includes development of new Scorecards, Account Management and Collections strategies.
· Escalate any areas of concern or emerging trends in terms of deteriorating credit quality, market / economic trends or reduced profitability across any of the WPB portfolios to Risk Management forums / committees.
Leadership & Teamwork
· Acting as SME regarding credit decisioning to support wider business transformation;
· Cooperate with other teams such as WPB, DBS, Operations etc to ensure timely project delievery to maximize customer services without compromising on credit standards;
· Lead and develop an effective team through communication, performance management, development plans and reward/recognition practices
· Develop strong working relationships with stakeholders from working level through EXCO.
Operational Effectiveness & Control
· Ensure compliance with external regulatory requirements, internal control standards and group compliance policy.
· Ensure appropriate control of any new change impacting credit life cycle of our customers; monitor system implementation and enhancements (AAPS, HUB, SAS ID, Google Cloud etc.)
· Constantly review, improve and challenge process efficient/status quo.
· Drives the implementation of change within WPB Risk, or part of wider Group initiatives. Ensure any new change impacting the credit life cycle has approprirate controls.
· Participate in projects initiated by WPB Risk or other departments to enhance process/customer journey
· Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including the timely implementation of audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
· Ensure WPB product based Stress Testing is completed at least once a year. Ensure methodology is regularly reviewed and complies with regional recommended approach.
Information
Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications:
· In depth knowledge of credit risk, particularly in relation to retail banking. Broad understanding of other risk areas that impact WPB risk profile
· Strong analytical understanding / mindset and how to obtain insights through data and analytics
· Broad knowledge of sector trends and regulatory environment
· Act with courageous integrity in decision making
· Take personal accountability, be decisive, use common sense, empower others
· Communicate openly and honestly.
· Understanding Risk and making decisions in highly complex situations where there are potentially major consequences for the business.
· Providing expert quidance for the line of business.
· Excellent understanding of originations and portfolio management techniques including sophisticated analytics, credit modeling.
· Excellent understanding of non-financial risk
· Solid understanding of how the broader macroeconmy may influence the WPB business
· Understanding of Vietnam state regulations and local bureau knowledge
· Innovative and understands how to use data to make decisions
· Good Understanding of business areas outside of Risk e.g., Collections, Product, Finance, etc.
· Strong leadership skills for constantly changing risk environment
· Experience in working with auditors, regulators and compliance
· Expertise in project management and good interpersonal skills
· Great leader in talent management, communication and influencing
· Fluency in English is required
