Global Private Banking Intern
Internship New York, United States Accounting / Management control
Job description
WHO WE ARE
HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world. In 71 countries and territories serving around 46 million customers, our ambition is to be where the growth is, connecting customers to opportunities, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper.
OUR STRUCTURE
Our network covers both established and emerging markets across Europe, Asia-Pacific, Middle East and North Africa, North America and Latin America. Within these markets, we serve our customers through our global businesses: Commercial Banking, Global Banking and Markets, Global Private Banking, and Retails Banking and Wealth Management.
HSBC AND YOU
We're looking for the future leaders of Global Private Banking. Forward-thinking, driven, perceptive students who enjoy being part of a team and are excited by new ideas. People who are dependable and open to different cultures.
You'll work alongside an expert team that provides wealth management advice and tailored investment solutions to help our high-net-worth clients and their families achieve their financial goals. As well as seeing how we build relationships with our clients, you'll learn all about our comprehensive investment offering, which covers all asset classes. We work in close partnership with Commercial Banking and our other global businesses, and you'll see how we aim to provide the best of HSBC to our high-net-worth clients.
Wherever you join us, we will support, guide and develop you, while our leaders will help you to be the best you can be, reflecting your interests and capabilities.
We'll take your learning and development seriously so you get the most out of your internship. Your time with us will begin with a one-week induction, which will include technical training tailored to Global Private Banking. You can then expect a mix of practical, hands-on experience and technical and behavioural skills training, along with exposure to a range of banking solutions. This will provide you with the right balance of knowledge and enable you to help meet our clients' needs.
At the beginning of your internship, measurable objectives will be set by your line manager, who will manage your performance as well as offering you support and advice. You'll be assigned a dedicated buddy who you can share ideas with and who will give you guidance. There will be plenty of opportunities to establish a solid network across Global Private Banking, which will stand you in good stead for the future. Taking part in our sustainability initiatives will also help you to develop new skills and become a future leader of HSBC, while adding value to the communities in which we work.
Perform well during the internship and you could secure a place on our Global Private Banking Global Graduate Programme on completion of your studies.
To be considered for the internship, you will be a penultimate-year Bachelor's or Master's degree student from any discipline who:
· Demonstrates our values – open, dependable and connected – in your daily work
· Is interested in, and understands, international markets and finance
· Is curious about the business world in which we live
· Has a global focus
· Is numerate and analytical
· Is a good communicator
· Has the highest standards of behaviour
· Is proactive, hard-working, self-motivated and willing to take on new challenges
· Is fluent in English (written and verbal)
Desired profile
The ideal candidate for this role will:
· Have a minimum of a 3.2 cumulative GPA or equivalent
· Have consistently achieved objectives set for you and taken action to improve your own performance
· Have self-awareness with the confidence to work independently and take responsibility for your own development
· Have worked collaboratively with other colleagues, supporting them when possible
In addition to the details listed above, the ideal candidate will be proactive, forward-thinking, ready to challenge the status quo, with strong drive and determination, keen to learn and develop at all times, have a natural ability to build relationships with colleagues and a willingness to deliver on difficult assignments, possess an aptitude for understanding the underlying strategy which underpins the bank direction, be skilled at project management and have a keen interest in business development.
PLEASE DO NOT APPLY FOR THIS POSITION UNLESS YOU ARE IN YOUR PENULTIMATE YEAR OF UNIVERSITY
Please be advised that you should apply for one HSBC Internship Programme. Candidates with multiple applications will be progressed on one application.
This role is based in New York City.
