GFX IT - FX Options Pricing Java Developer

Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC's global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world's leading international bank.
Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.
We work in small, agile DevOps teams with colleagues around the world from our offices at the Bluefin Building in Southwark, our global headquarters in Canary Wharf, and multiple other locations around the UK including Sheffield, Leeds, Barnsley and Birmingham.
Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains and with plans for continued expansion throughout 2019 and beyond, we are currently seeking a number of experienced FX Options Pricing Developers to join HSBC Technology.
Business Area Overview
The Global FX and Commodities IT (GFX IT) team is responsible for developing a range of applications to support the pricing, distribution and risk management of FX and commodities products throughout the bank (cash, options, precious metals, energy and derivatives).
The FX Options Pricing & Delivery global team develops the technology stack to support pricing and distribution of derivatives in the Foreign Exchange marketplace over HSBC platforms and integrations to exchanges/brokers in the Over the Counter markets.
What you will be doing;

Java Development in support of business deliveries to enhance our FX Options product offering: including green-field development of new components required in the stack; integration with external systems facilitating feeds we need to support and enhancing any existing points in the stack to improve the quality and scalability of our overarching systems in meeting all these requirements.

The successful candidate will join the GFX IT team as a Java Developer focusing on the complex and varied book of work associated to our business & technology manifesto. On joining the team: the successful candidate will be expected to quickly gain a solid understanding of the existing processes, system flows and components currently in live use - displaying sufficient interpersonal and relationship building skills to liaise directly with Sales, Traders and other Business stakeholders and SMEs - to develop target proposals, working with the local product owners to help define these where required.

The successful candidate will be expected to adopt the procedures and practices currently in-place to help ensure quality and consistency within the IT platforms. They will be encouraged to actively contribute to this process, proposing and helping to implement new procedures considered appropriate.

What you will bring to the role;
To be successful in this role you should have proven experience within the Technology sector with knowledge of the following skills:
TECHNICAL & BUSINESS KNOWLEDGE

Java mastery essential . The candidate must have a very strong grasp of idiomatic Java SE, and will have experience of working with a wide range of supporting library sets.

Java EE. Basic understanding of large-scale distributed Java-based architectures, including experience of at least one enterprise-class JEE container (WebSphere, WebLogic, etc.).

XML / XSLT

Use of Spring and Hibernate libraries for Java (Spring Integration an advantage)
·
Excellent SQL and database knowledge.
NON TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
·
Enthusiasm and ability to learn are important
·
Exposure to FX Options Front Office trading environment
·
Detailed knowledge of FX and/or commodities instruments – cash, options, metals, derivatives. Candidate must have a good intuitive grasp of the subject, including fundamentals of pricing & risk for one or more of these. Knowledge of FX Option Futures pricing is a bonus
