Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC's global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world's leading international bank.

Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.

We work in small, agile DevOps teams with colleagues around the world from our offices at the Bluefin Building in Southwark, our global headquarters in Canary Wharf, and multiple other locations around the UK including Sheffield, Leeds, Barnsley and Birmingham.

Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains and with plans for continued expansion throughout 2020 and beyond, we are currently seeking a GCP Technical Architect to join HSBC Technology.

HSBC operates a ‘Cloud First' strategy - we strongly believe that the future of our infrastructure is on the Cloud, both Public and Private to accelerate our business capabilities.

HSBC is looking for a step change in how we can leverage approved Cloud Services in a seamless way and the establishment of the Cloud Enterprise Architecture Practise is fundamental for our success to define and share best practise.

What you will be doing;


Your role will be to develop technical strategy & standards for the GCP foundation platform. Working within the GCP core team of Engineers, Product managers, Operational compliance and Service delivery leads. The TA is the technical authority for the HSBC GCP core platform and responsible for all key design decisions. The role faces off to HSBC applications teams to advising on application architecture and designs that are hosted on GCP. Working with the Cloud Enterprise Architects the TA is accountable for alignment to HSBC cloud strategy, standards, policy and governance.

· Act as the design authority on Architecture and key design decisions for the HSBC GCP Foundation Platform
· Ensure all non-Functional requirements for the platform meet Business needs and BCP requirements
· Develop an operational Risk framework to manage business risk
· Ensure all relevant architecture governance, policy, and standards are met
· Act as 3rd level support for the HSBC GCP foundation platform
· Provide GCP specific consultancy to the GB%5CGF's and Solutions Architects for technical architecture & design patterns for solutions hosted on the GCP Foundation Platform

Qualifications :

What you will bring to the role;

To be successful in this role you should have proven experience within the Technology sector with knowledge of the following skills:

·  Have worked as an Architect in an enterprise organisation
·  Demonstrable knowledge of Non Functional Requirements
·  Demonstrable Cloud service provider experience - infrastructure build and configurations of a variety of services including Compute, Containers, Container OS and Container orchestration (E.g. Docker, COS, GKE) Storage, IAM, SDN (VPC and XPN)
·  Experience of working with Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD) and continuous testing techniques and tools
·  GCP Architecture Certification
·  Experience working as an Architect or relevant equivalent

This role will primarily be based at Park Street office, Southwark, but some travel may be required.
