Key Objectives for Fund Operations Specialist:

Responsible for day-to-day administration and oversight of the HSBC Mutual and Pooled Funds (“the Funds”). Facilitate mutual fund and pooled fund trade settlements with clients, dealers and custodians, reconciliations, and the daily processing of transactions.

Principle Accountabilities:
· Review fund information such as reasonableness of the daily NAVS, monthly MERs and PTOs, and income distributions.
· Track and investigate overdraft interests charged to the Funds.
· Review expense accruals and appropriate allocation of HST to the Funds.
· Assist with review of annual income and capital gains distributions and T3 filings, as well as reconciliation of records between Fund Accounting system and Transfer Agency system.
· Assist with the production and review of semi-annual and annual financial statements, management reports of fund performance, simplified prospectus, annual information form, and statements of investment portfolios.
· Oversee services provided by Fund Accountant to ensure accurate and timely accounting valuation of the HSBC Funds.
· Perform other fund operations such as daily valuation of the HSBC Mortgage Fund and all related internal and regulatory reporting.
· Settle trades and remit payments to dealers, custodians and clients.
· Balance and reconcile general ledgers, bank accounts, and subscriptions receivables and redemptions payables.
· Provide fund level information to various internal and external parties such as daily cash inflow/outflow summaries and daily trade transaction files.
· Monitor and clear suspense accounts for returned items.
· Prepare and reconcile cheque log.
· Oversee fund administration services provided by HBCA Wealth Operations.
· Investigate and resolve fund manufacturer matters relating to transfer agency system, FundSERV/FundCOM, and other fund specific queries such as short-term trading fees and trailer fees.
· Complete ad hoc requests and assist with projects as they arise, e.g., audit requirements, system upgrades.
· Update procedures as required.
· Provide knowledge base in fund operations and settlement processes as the subject matter expert to other business stakeholders.
· Build strong relationships with team mates and other stakeholders by adopting a joined up approach to deliver business requirements at pace and with minimum conflict.
· Support project teams.
· Establish and maintain working relationships with other business units and teams globally.
· Contribute to a culture of teamwork and collaboration by sharing knowledge and identifying training opportunities with team members.

Desired profile

Qualifications :

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications:
·  1-3 years of experience in the mutual fund or asset management industry. Experiences in fund accounting and valuation an asset.
·  Post-secondary degree in Finance or Accounting, or working towards accounting designation.
·  Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
·  Strong judgmental skills to identify and resolve problems and make good decision.
·  Excellent organization skills. Ability to prioritize and multi-ask effectively.
·  Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
·  Proficient skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and working knowledge of Access.
·  Excellent attention to details and ability to work under pressure and deliver on tight timelines.
·  Ability to work and adapt in a fast changing environment with flexibility to adjust work load when required.
·  Ability to work autonomously, delegate and plan appropriately, as well as work collaboratively with various groups to drive high quality results.
