Global Finance
Global Finance aims to provide HSBC with a professional, effective and responsive finance service that operates at optimal cost and employs a common and transparent global model. We are now inviting qualified individuals to join this team in the role of Finance Transformation Programme (FTP) Systems Business Analyst.
Role Purpose
The role will focus on the provision of business analysis support for the FTP platform, acting as the interface between the Finance User and IT Function in the identification of system and process requirements / improvements. The FTP Systems Business Analyst will proactively work with customers (users) to elicit user requirements and transform these into effective, efficient and working platform and process solutions. The role holder will also support the FTP Implementation Support Analysts in ensuring that the FTP platform and its associated processes are designed to enable the transformation of the Finance function. He/she will participate in issue resolution and escalation to appropriate governance forums or stakeholders as appropriate. The role will also focus on the delivery of financial data from FTP to serve financial reporting, operational accounting, and other downstream finance systems.
The role holder is based in Malaysia, have a direct reporting to the functional manager (FTP Design and Implementation Lead) based in Hong Kong. The role holder is expected to work independently and have clear communication to FTP Design and Global Implementation Manager of risks, issues and successes.
Principal Accountabilities
Responsible for:
· The production of requirement documentation in accordance with Programme standards.
· The successful understanding and translation of local finance requirements into a Global definition of System functionality and operational Business Processing.
· Ensuring that any delivered systemic solution is robust and complies with all defined requirements, regulatory/audit and business needs.
· Production of Test Condition documentation.
· Provision of support to Global Finance Testing (GFT) and UAT project activities.
· Translate financial reporting and operational accounting requirements into technical requirements for product system and FTP inbound development.
· Develop accounting rules to translate banking transactions from product system into general ledger entries and account arrangement records.
· Ensure data population satisfies financial reporting data needs, outbound feeds, GRCA mappings and assurance of FTP GRCA solution.
Customers / Stakeholders
· Ensure effective relationships are maintained and fostered with key Finance staff across the organisation. Maintain and continue to develop an effective working partnership with Global IT Function. Ensure effective communication as appropriate using all relevant media with the Project Management Organisation.
· Partner with GFT to ensure the deployment of a certified system to the End User. Partner with the Finance Gold and Training Teams to ensure production and delivery of procedural and process documentation to the End User.
Operational Effectiveness & Control
· Ensuring the delivery of documentation and output to a high professional standard.
· Providing a high level of commitment and dedication to the success of the implementation of FTP globally.
· Ensuring suitable Control mechanisms are utilised and introduced whenever appropriate into both system and process design.
· Support FTP Teams at Global Finance Centres (GFC) as required.
· Ensure compliance with all relevant internal instructions (FIMs, GSMs, circulars) and external regulatory requirements, including the management of operational risk and adherence to the Group's standards of ethical behaviour.
· Ensure data quality issues identified during the requirements gathering, analysis and design stages are formally assessed and managed to ensure Finance end state vision and associated benefits are realized.
· Effectively utilise available FTP features and maximise FTP's functional benefits to the end-users through having a comprehensive understanding of FTP functionality. Focus should be on accounting control and ensuring that data population in FTP is fit for purpose.
Desired profile
Requirements:
· Possess a degree and/or professional qualification in Accounting and/or Finance;
· Ability to manage multiple deliverables and to take ownership of tasks and pursue to closure;
· Ability to act as the interface between the Business and IT Functions;
· A team player who is proactive with drive and energy; strong communication and interpersonal skills, problem solving and solution orientated;
· Experience in financial services industry and knowledge and experience with data transformation utilities and data modelling and logical data concepts for example ETL, translation of business rules into system logic, etc.;
· Knowledge and / or experience of Finance Systems. Knowledge and / or experience working with FTP system in a project or site based role, with a focus on source system interfacing, downstream systems connectivity and reporting;
· Understanding of FTP system data flow, its various components, purpose and architecture;
· Knowledge and background in leveraging system solutions to support and drive process efficiency and change;
· Experience within a Project environment, and experience of ascertaining, defining and constructing Business Requirement documentation, process maps, etc.
