We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join this team in the role of Finance Manager Local Regulatory Reporting.
Principal Responsibilities
· Managing the local regulatory reporting in the preparation & detailed review of financial & statistical reports, relied upon by various business/support users & other stakeholders (Regulators – BNM, PIDM, Board, Auditors, Group).
· The management of the relevant Group/local financial systems including routine maintenance, controls, new system enhancement and management of exceptions.
· Spearhead implementation of all local regulators’ new reporting framework and systems as the primary liason.
Impact on the Business / Function
· Manage production of periodic (daily/weekly/monthly) financial and statistical information to Regulators, Group offices, Business and other users.
· Undertake detail review of financial information and provide analysis/commentary to help users to interpret the data. Assess options to optimize returns on capital utilization and avenues to improve profitability.
· Support business in regulatory reporting issues for new initiatives. E.g. business case.
· Investigate unusual trends/transactions in the financial and statistical submissions so that errors and issues are resolved promptly or escalated where appropriate.
· Implement new financial/ statistical reporting requirement from regulators, and group offices. Co-ordinate the implementation of regulators/ group’ system and support as primary liaison between all business functions & external parties.
· Customers / Stakeholders
Fulfill local regulatory requirements through preparation of timely and accurate submissions to BNM, PIDM and Government of Malaysia.
· Support Board and Management committees through preparation of timely & accurate reports & papers. E.g. Board, Audit committee,ALCO, EXCO.
Primary liason and appointed Project Manager for all local regulators’ new reporting framework and systems.
Leadership & Teamwork
· Manage team members’ daily processes including system usage, housekeeping and controls.
· Provide guidance and on the job coaching of team members.
· Work closely within FIN sections/other departments to deliver an overall joined up approach to issues, new initiatives/projects.
Operational Effectiveness & Control
· Adoption of SOX requirement for enhanced internal control and risk management.
· Ensure smooth running and integrity of financial systems and databases and to implement/test system enhancements.
· Actively monitor daily activities to ensure no financial limits are breached. E.g. statutory reserves, liquidity and capital ratios.
· Act as independent check and balance on the financial results produced via business and support activities. Eg Credit Admin returns, Banking Ops statistics, MI data.
Requirements
· Minimum with Degree qualification. Possessing 2 to 5 years of related knowledge and practical experience of regulatory reporting will be additional advantage;
· A Professional Financial/Accounting qualification is essential.
· With extensive knowledge or experience of Finance either gained through job experience or educational background.
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel; and resilient and adaptable with system technical experience; Possessing the knowledge of Python/ Power BI applications will be additional advantage;
· Effective communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, including experience of presenting, influencing and maintaining strong working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders;
· Ability to work with new and changing requirements from different regulators and be able to analyse these requirements and their impact to the bank.
· Good time management, analytical and problem solving skills;
· Firm leadership capabilities of navigating, aspiring, driving, mobilising and sustaining, in line with HSBC values of open, connected and dependable.
