- Indirect Cost Management
- Europe role is based within Finance, European Business Finance.
 
The role of the Finance Business Partner
- Indirect Cost Management
- Europe is to:
Lead business finance partner for management of Indirect Cost Base across Europe
Ensure adherence to RBWM global cost management framework
Provide financial and operating support to RBWM Europe executives on indirect cost matters
Utilise globally consistent management information and reporting framework, providing key financial and non-financial information to business to support achievement of RBWM strategy
Support region business strategic cost management activities ensuring cost targets are achieved and appropriate level of rigour is applied to achieve sustainable cost save targets.
Provide oversight of internal process / procedure with financial implications e.g. transfer pricing, behaviouralisation, liquidity premium, IT / Ops unit costing, attributable and allocated costs, referral mechanisms.
Your responsibilities will include:
 
Key Accountabilities
Support for all key cost governance meetings.  BPRs.   Monthly HBEU.  Monthly Global RBWM.  Quarterly Global RBWM.    Lead Monthly reviews with country business performance & finance for UK, France, Turkey
Ensure that the underlying drivers of indirect costs in RBWM are identified and understood by key decision makers, allowing quicker and better informed cost allocation & investment decisions to be made
Robust, timely and transparent communication of indirect cost performance to Finance and Business leads in UK, France, Turkey and International
- including outlook and trends
Target those recharges with ambiguous drivers and / or charging mechanism, and work with the corresponding recharging areas to propose new methodologies
Proactive collaboration with HTS and global functions, using analysis and modelling to support joint productivity / efficiency challenges
Relationship management with CMB in respect of intra-global business recharges and recoveries
Support the global RBWM cost team and regional MI functions in cleansing the ""other indirect"" cost lines and improving transparency and ownership of any residual cost items that remain 
Customers / Stakeholders
Liaise with FD CEO, Regional and UK CFOs to implement and improve standard cost reporting & analysis.
Align with RBWM Finance Global team, GMO functions such as FIN (Global Head of MI), IR, CAO
Ensure that the UK is managing appropriately in accordance with RBWM FIM, GSM, target business model and finance operating model 
Leadership & Teamwork
Manage FD & Regional Cost Business Finance team’s performance, engagement and overall development.
Develop business finance capability and resourcing as appropriate to ensure the business is adequately supported by Business Finance
Functionally align with local / regional finance teams and/or accounting officers to understand, interpret, and provide global direction and support, driving towards global consistency and common frameworks. Identify, transfer and foster sharing of best practice across regions.
Stay abreast of all financially-related, internal and external market-wide initiatives that affect RBWM.  Provide appropriate updates and briefing as necessary and applicable.
Operational Effectiveness & Control
Implement and validate non-financial metrics used in external reporting.
Driving the agenda for improved cost reporting to RBWM Finance HQ or other channels to meet the strategic needs of the business.
Manage on-going Global Function team costs, budgets and associated recharges.
Understand, follow and demonstrate compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which one is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy. 
Maintain HSBC Internal Control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators. Leadership over all regulatory and compliance matters and the management of operational risk   
Management of Risk
The incumbent is aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with the role and acts in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.
The jobholder will also continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.
This will be achieved by ensuring all actions take account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring.
Also by addressing any areas of concern in conjunction with line management and/or the appropriate department. 
Observation of Internal Controls
The jobholder will also adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators.
The jobholder will implement the Group compliance policy by containing compliance risk in liaison with Regional Head of Compliance, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer. The term ‘compliance’ embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply.
This will be achieved by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures and by liaising with Compliance department about new business initiatives at the earliest opportunity. Also and when applicable, by ensuring adequate resources are in place and training is provided, fostering a compliance culture and optimising relations with regulators.

Desired profile

The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Role relevant qualifications, i.e. Formally recognised finance qualification
Past working experience in a relevant role, i.e.  The individual would be expected to have a varied finance career to date across multiple finance disciplines (i.e. Financial Accounting & Control; Business Information & Analysis; Financial & Regulatory Reporting; Capital Management & Taxation; legal entity CFO; Accounting Policy; Change Management)
Availability to undertake the travel required for this role, i.e. Some UK, mainly Sheffield and London where key stakeholders are based
Both spoken and written communication skills with experience of adapting your style and approach to the audience and message to be delivered
Worked collaboratively with other colleagues, supporting them when possible
Experience of making timely and rational decisions, based on relevant information and experience
Dealt effectively with highly complex commercial information and business challenges to create strategic business plans which effectively deliver results
In addition to the details listed above, the ideal candidate will have Finance background within FS.
 
The base location for this role is Leeds.
