The Finance Business Partner – Cards role is based within Accounting & Finance Team.
The role of the Finance Business Partner – Cards is to:
· Finance Business Partner with responsibility for Credit and Debit Cards
· Support all the Cards related activities and advise the Head Retail Banking and Wealth Management (RBWM) UK Business Finance and relevant Product committees on the financial performance of these products and proposed pricing strategies deployed in the UK
· Interact with Asset and Liability Capital Management (ALCM) and assess balance sheet management activities

The role spans multiple brands (HSBC, John Lewis, firstdirect & M&S) as well as multiple distribution channels.

The role holder will be working in a fast-paced environment and engaging with multiple stakeholders being involved in the HSBC ultimate group strategy.

The role is challenging and provides the opportunity for individuals to develop a broad range of capabilities in the ever-changing world of Finance.

Main role's characteristics:

· Delivering a value-added finance function, producing quality anylist that management can rely on, make decisions upon and drive business performance.

Your responsibilities will include:

· Business partnering responsibilities for the Cards.
· Creation of monthly financial analysis, revised annual forecasts and Latest Estimates, Annual Operating Plans for the Business Management Team.
· Maintain product cost analysis and make recommendations for driving further cost efficiencies.
· Support any financial analysis needed for Regulatory and Government reporting.
· Support development of business strategy and maintain analyses of market shares of stock and flows of each product line.
· Support management with relevant analysis of balance sheet issues, including funding and market risk as well as assessment on profitability arising from changes in the interest rate structure.
· In conjunction with credit risk, ensure appropriate impairment policies and provisioning models are in place together with ongoing monitoring and risk reporting as part of the finance reporting cycle.
· Analyse Risk Weighted Asset (RWA) consumption, impacts on leverage ratio of personal lending portfolio and maintain appropriate returns on RWA and leverage ratios.
· Support the product management team to ensure Card businesses are compliant with current regulatory requirements required by law, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) or the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA).
· Liaise with UK RBWM Head of Business Finance and UK Cards Product Managers and improve standard reporting & analysis.
· Align with RBWM Europe Business Finance team together with GMO functions such as FIN (Regional Head of Management Information (MI), Interest Rates (IR), Chief Accountants Office (CAO).
· Ensure that the UK is managing appropriately in accordance with RBWM Functional Instruction Manual (FIM), Group Standard Manual (GSM), target business model and finance operating model.
· Support UK RBWM Business Finance team's performance, engagement and overall development.
· Support the development of Business Finance capability and resourcing within UK as appropriate to ensure country UK executive team adequately supported by Business Finance.
· Functionally align with local / regional finance teams and/or accounting officers to understand, interpret, and provide global direction and support, driving towards global consistency and common frameworks. Identify, transfer and foster sharing of best practice across regions.
· Stay abreast of all financially-related, internal and external market-wide initiatives that affect RBWM. Provide appropriate updates and briefing as necessary and applicable.
· Implement and validate non-financial metrics required to be used in external reporting.
· Support the implementation of change to improve reporting to RBWM Finance HQ or other channels to meet the strategic needs of the business.
· Understand, follow and demonstrate compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which one is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.
· Maintain HSBC Internal Control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
· Leadership over all regulatory and compliance matters and the management of operational risk.

Desired profile

Qualifications :


The ideal candidate for this role will have:

·  Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. financial services industry.
·  Experience working in relevant market/context, i.e. banking or in a sector with complexity.
·  Role relevant qualifications, i.e. professional accountancy qualification -CIMA/ACCA or equivalent experience.
·  Past working experience in a relevant role, i.e. financial reporting, planning and analysis role.
·  Experience of using relevant software packages, i.e. Excel.
·  Relevant product knowledge including knowledge of finance products. is desirable but not essential.
·  Experience of using relevant software packages, i.e. Word, PowerPoint , Access is desirable but not essential.
·  Previous experience of delivering an excellent customer service.
·  A track record of constantly looking for ways to do things better and an excellent understanding of the mechanism necessary to successfully implement change.
·  Proven experience of motivating others to deliver exceptional performance and long terms results.
·  Both spoken and written communication skills with experience of adapting your style and approach to the audience and message to be delivered.
·  A comprehensive understanding of risk management and proven experience of ensuring own/others' compliance with relevant regulatory processes.
·  Used their business knowledge and understanding of customer needs to successfully manage and grow customer relationships.

The base location for this role is Birmingham.
