Purpose of Department

ITID consists of a set of diversely skilled professionals who offer technical support on various platforms with different levels of complexity on Information Technology related areas to HSBC Staff across the globe.

Job Description

· The Global Patching team is fundamentally responsible for facilitating large / small scale Windows desktop/tablet patch distribution to a proportion of (or the entire) Windows community. Also, will carry out Global/ad-hoc SCCM reporting on patch deployments across Globe and will be focal team of contact for any Patching related queries, status updates and guidance. Team will be responsible for analysing Patching reports and take corrective/prevention action as required. Will work closely with Release Management team, SCCM team and Global Business Managers for Patch Management activities and own Patching coordination process.

· Responsibility can take the form of:
· Working closely with various Release managers in different regions to execute various Global Release Management projects.
· Work closely with the application packaging team and provide technical assistance to various Release Managers for Global deployments.
· Responsible for preparing MIs as per requirement by the Global Release Managers.
· Ensure that the technology implemented are in line with HSBC standards (TRM, FIM and FOS)
· Co-ordinate packaging and release of new software and patches in accordance with Windows Standards.
· Testing applications and patches before rollout to minimize incidents affecting users.
· Providing users an opportunity to accept functionality of software before it is fully implemented.
· Maintaining structured approach to rolling out all new software.
· Piloting in advance of rollouts, which means that users do not experience system downtime?
· Implementing storage of software on site servers, ensuring that updated versions are installed at all times, which minimizes incidents and the need for reinstallation.
· Liaison with other support teams, application vendors to ensure continuity of services.
· Implementation of changes, rollouts
· Provide 3rd line release support for patches and change related issues
· To identify and raise issues with other support teams, if identified during a change implementation, and to work with them to fix the issues (applicable to large user base).

Skills/Experience Required

Essential Skills
· Ability to work under pressure and deliver within limited timescales
· Experience supporting a huge user base
· Experience in working in a Release Management environment.
· Excellent knowledge of the SCCM, SMS (2007 and 2012) and SCCM Reporting
· Knowledge of packages, patches and distribution methods (desktop, laptop and ATM devices)
· Good knowledge of MS Access, SQL (or WQL), WSUS 3.0
· Knowledge on Windows 8 and Windows 10 (desktop and tablet)
· Overall understanding of the Windows desktop environment/infrastructure and relevant tools.
· Experience in Information Technology industry or equivalent.
· Good communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
· Strong analytical skills to quickly assess situations or a new environment, their impact and options for resolution.
· MCP/MCSE Certification would be an added plus.
· Experience in working on a large scale projects. Experience with large scale release projects.
· Good knowledge on application packaging infrastructure.
