Job description
The EMEA WOLF IT Analyst Developer role is based within HSBC Technology Services Europe, Payment Services Software Delivery, EMEA WOLF IT Team. WOLF is the HSBC Group’s transactional strategic sanction screening system. It provides real-time filtering of messages identifying and blocking the movement of funds for terrorism, anti money laundering and internationally sanctioned entities. Filtering is performed against sanction list data deemed mandatory by Group Compliance plus any official or local sanction lists as requested by each site. The EMEA WOLF IT Team are responsible for a number of WOLF filter services based on Linux and Mainframe technologies, a front-end server based alerts management service and a service for downloading official sanction lists for distribution around the Group. The majority of these services utilise vendor products combined with in-house customization through common server technologies including application servers, relational SQL databases, MQ and shell script.
EMEA WOLF IT Team are responsible for:
1. Production support for all EMEA WOLF services.
2. BAU and Minor Enhancements for all EMEA WOLF services.
3. Changes as required to support projects for the EMEA and global business.
4. Global WOLF replatforming.
The role of the EMEA WOLF IT Analyst Developer is to Focus on the new Linux-based services whilst still providing support for the demising mainframe-based services, there will be opportunities to work on varying technologies and projects. With a large amount of regulatory and DPA-related work, there are significant opportunities for the Analyst Developer to expand their knowledge and role within the EMEA WOLF IT Team.
Participation in the EMEA WOLF IT out-of-hours support rota, providing 24x7 support to the EMEA WOLF services and undertaking weekend change activity for the services in conjunction with other members of the team.
The department is at the centre of all the banks activities and is an exciting and fast moving environment, allowing the use of leading banking technologies.
This role supports the provision of real-time filtering of messages identifying and blocking the movement of funds for terrorism, anti money laundering and internationally sanctioned entities.
The role holder will be working with UNIX, LINUX, Oracle, Websphere and Middleware technology such as MQ, with the opportunity to also work on automation technologies, and NOSQL databases.
Your responsibilities will include:
Working with the relevant team members to document the analysis and design of changes as requested by the business.
Undertaking coding, unit testing and other development tasks. With the opportunity to work on both mainframe and Linux technologies following the standard HTS methodologies.
Participating as requested in delivery of projects as prioritised and required by the business areas.
Undertaking production support for the EMEA WOLF services, including processing the Support email account, responding to queries and actions as appropriate.
Participating in the EMEA WOLF IT out-of-hours support rota, providing 24x7 support to the EMEA WOLF services and undertaking weekend change activity for the services in conjunction with other members of the team
Desired profile
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Relevant product knowledge including knowledge of Linux
Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. Server
Experience working in relevant market/context, i.e. Working knowledge of Application Life Cycle management, and software development life cycle
Past working experience on relevant systems, i.e. A wide knowledge of IT hardware, software, operations and networks
Relevant product knowledge including knowledge of Familiarity of the Linux OS (RHEL), Relational Databases (ORACLE, DB2), Application Servers (WAS), MQ is desirable but not essential
Experience of using relevant software packages, i.e. RHEL, Oracle, DB2, WAS, MQ is desirable but not essential
