Job description

The Digital Product Owner role is based within HSBC's Retail Banking and Wealth Management (RBWM) Digital Centre of Excellence (DCoE).

The role of the Digital Product Owner is to define best in class digital channel propositions for strategic platforms including Public Website, Internet Banking and Mobile (extending to future channels/devices).

This position is known internally as Associate Digital Product Manager and is responsible for product management of key elements of a specific HSBC RBWM proposition in order to deliver distinctive value to Digital Channels using current and future digital capabilities.

Your responsibilities will include:
· Working under direction from the Global Digital Product Management community, the Associate Digital Product Manager will be responsible for providing on the ground Subject Matter Expert (SME) support for requirements and delivery sprints, articulating their product vision, owning requirements (user stories, designs, copy) and being empowered to make decisions on scope and priorities (based on a variety of factors).
· Taking day to day responsibility for management of a product backlog (new requirements, defects, Change Requests, enhancements) and SME support to downstream teams through Release Management and Testing phases and beyond.
· Developing effective working relationships through full participation in agile sprints working with Scrum Masters, Analysts and Designers and technical leads.
· Building strong relationships with in country teams and global stakeholders to enable understanding and knowledge of global vision and market considerations in order to drive product development."
· Accountability for owning and managing product backlog for their product (s) from drawdown through to final delivery to the business/ customers including prioritisation of backlog items (new requirements, defects, CRs) based on a variety of business, technical, commercial and customer considerations
· Demonstrating Digital Subject Matter Expertise input to the requirements elaboration process, supporting Requirements Management teams with data, technical and competitor insight and industry best practice"
· Fully participating in Agile sprints (daily scrums, spring planning, reviews and retrospectives) through co-location with Scrum Master, technical lead, Analysis and Design as needed, providing clear articulation of product vision and direction
· Approving the given product at the end of sprint and readiness for release to customers
· Developing strong working relationships with market stakeholders across the globe to understand the local product, regulatory and competitive environment in order to design this into global requirements
· Reporting on the status of product backlog and sprint deliverables including business value and priorities.

Desired profile

The ideal candidate for this role will have:
·  Excellent customer focus; Awareness of User Centred Design methodology, digital customer behaviour, sourcing of customer insight and importance of customer testing
·  Subject Matter Expertise of the digital channel, including technical, commercial and market considerations
·  Past working experience in a relevant role, i.e. Digital Product Management/Owner experience; owning all aspects of their product from initiation through to optimisation
·  Availability to undertake the travel required for this role, i.e. the requirement to travel depends upon the assigned product and may require occasional travel UK / overseas for stakeholder meetings
·  A track record of constantly looking for ways to do things better and an excellent understanding of the mechanism necessary to successfully implement change
·  A flexible and adaptable management style with experience of developing yourself and others
·  Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences
·  Experience of creating and deploying comprehensive business/operating plans which consistently deliver desired results
The base location for this role is Blue Fin Building, Southwark Street, London.
