Job description

The Digital Copywriter role is based within HSBC’s Digital Centre of Excellence.
 
The role of the Digital Copywriter is to support UX & Design as well as the wider DCOE teams by creating clear, elegant English (potentially other native languages too), with suitable communication for international audiences from a variety of backgrounds, for all devices supported by the global operation. Internally this role will be reffered to as Digital Sub-Editor.

Our Digital Centre of Excellence (COE) is a global operational centre of digital for HSBC supporting digital transformation, which enables process simplification and accelerates channel migration, improving productivity and customer experience.

Your responsibilities will include:
Producing high quality and accurate copy across print, digital and social channels
Producing marketing and service related digital messaging working within rigid restrictions and guidelines
Producing long and short form copy appropriate to a variety of project goals and audiences
Optimising and reconfiguring existing internal and external communications to adhere to user experience best practice
Working across a variety of projects, ensuring adequate and appropriate prioritisation
Ensure consistency both within and across documents, brands and sub brands

Desired profile

The ideal candidate for this role will have:
A great understanding of large organisations & e-commerce platforms
English copywriting qualifications or equivalent would be desirable
Experience of User Centred Design methodology and its practical implementation
Experience of best practice when writing for the web
Strong understanding of user experience and web best practice
Experience of multi-channel content creation (web, print, mobile, tablet)
Familiar with the use of prototyping tools, basic Photoshop and word-processing software
Subject matter expertise of channel, including technical, commercial, marketplace and customer considerations
Innovative – the ability to approach things differently or do different things to deliver goals
Highly developed communication skills, both written and verbal, to explain complex or technical issues
Good relationship management skills to satisfy a wide range of internal and external customers with conflicting priorities 
Experience of working with agencies, particularly for usability testing
A flexible and adaptable approach to change and will support others to respond in a similar way
Achieved targets and met expectations whilst supporting and encouraging others to do the same
The base location for this role is London or Leeds.
