Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC's global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world's leading international bank.

Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.

We work in small, agile DevOps teams with colleagues around the world from our offices at the Bluefin Building in Southwark, our global headquarters in Canary Wharf, and multiple other locations around the UK including Sheffield, Leeds, Barnsley and Birmingham.

Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains and with plans for continued expansion throughout 2020 and beyond, we are currently seeking a number of experienced DevOps Engineers to join HSBC Technology.

HSS IT has circa 680 staff primarily in based in Great Britain, Hong Kong, United States, mainland China, India and Malaysia.


What you will be doing;

Broker Outsourcing Securities Services is a product of HSBC Securities Services (HSS) to provide middle/back office capabilities for Broker Dealer clients, such as Trade Processing, Settlement, Allocation, Controls, Reconciliation, Reporting, etc, supplementing existing CNC back office Third Party Clearing / Agency Clearing services.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to take on the role of DevOps Engineer within our Broker Outsourcing programmes.

The DevOps Engineer role will play a key part in the build out of the Broker Outsourcing solution for Brexit and its integration and ongoing maintenance into the HSBC front to back systems architecture. The role will continue into subsequent client onboarding and BAU for onboarded clients. The role also involves the responsibility of being onsite-liaisons for the delivery PODs which are run out of other low cost locations, and to offer onsite level 1 support to the business users. This is an opportunity to join an exciting implementation and contribute to shaping the team's operating model and working practices.

This successful candidate will be responsible for development, automation, maintenance, improvement and troubleshooting of the Broker Outsourcing system for new client-onboarding projects (as many as 2-3 running concurrently) and the pipeline of small changes to service the existing client base. You will work closely with the business, with external client teams, and last but not least the colleagues in other geographic locations across the Asia and Europe timezones.

Core Responsibilities of the role:

· Technical design, development, implementation, automation and maintenance of the Broker Outsourcing platform to meet the needs of the business.
· Pre-production acceptance testing to help assure the quality of our products / services.
· Suggesting and contributing to architecture improvements, recommending process improvements.
· Ensuring system's compliance to the constantly changing cybersecurity standards by ensuring timely improvements and evergreening upgrades of the systems.
· Build, release and configuration management of production systems.
· System troubleshooting and problem solving across the platform and application domains.
· Contribute to the smooth running of IT systems by ensuring that problems with production systems and IT services are investigated and resolved efficiently with minimum disruption to the business.
· Ensure compliance with all relevant internal instructions/policies, internal control standards and external regulatory requirements, including the management of operational risk and adherence to the Group's standards of ethical behavior.

Qualifications :

What you will bring to the role;

To be successful in this role you should have proven experience within the Technology sector with knowledge of the following skills:

The role requires successful candidates to have hands-on technical experience and a can-do approach towards environment automation / management and continuous improvement.

·  Solid experience on applications in Core Java/J2EE, Spring, Maven, Jenkins
·  Solid experience on database structured query language (SQL) in Oracle
·  Solid experience in XML/XSLT
·  Solid experience on UNIX. Strong scripting and automation skills
·  Experience with system monitoring tools (e.g. Geneos), version control systems (e.g. GIT), and network systems (common topologies, protocols etc)
·  Solid technology skills, together with business knowledge (demonstrated aptitude and willingness to learn), and an attitude of continuous improvement and online deployment in a 24x7 uptime environment
·  Ability in managing, configuring and upgrading the GBST Syn~ platform a strong plus point
·  Excellent English verbal and written communication skills are essential.
·  Experience with Agile software development methodologies
·  Experience of middle office and back office correspondent clearing model

These roles will primarily be London /Sheffield site based at our Head Office in Canary Wharf but some travel may be required.
