Job description

The Data Services Enterprise Data Architect role is based within the Data Services Architecture team in Global Information Technology Architecture within HSBC Operations, Services & Technology (HOST).

The role of the Data Services Enterprise Data Architect is to take responsibility for delivery of a number of global architecture projects. The Data Services Enterprise Data Architect will use industry knowledge and expertise to establish a strategy that is reflective of the evolving data and technology landscape.

This is a unique opportunity for applicants who are interested in rapidly embracing new technologies and approaches to deliver robust and business enhancing data management capabilities. In this role you will work within a complex and maturing data management department and will be expected drive it towards achieving the department's goal of being industry leading.
Due to the role's unique blend of global reach and vision, complex lines of business, complex regulation and sheer scope of the activities to be undertaken, High Performers in the role can expect to build a strong platform to develop into Head of Architecture or Chief Data Officer roles.

Your responsibilities will include:
·  Leading the design and development of enterprise architectures aligned with group standards, IT and business strategy
·  Defining and supporting the implementation of the HSBC Enterprise Data Architecture strategy and associated operating models and principles
·  Working alongside Chief Data Architects and Chief Data Officers, within the Global Businesses and Functions
·  Providing support and guidance to stakeholders working within data domains to ensure successful delivery aligned to the defined strategy
·  Influencing the continued development of architecture governance processes and standards.
·  Acting as a SME, being influential and contributing to the development of architecture group standards, identifying and implementing new practices, processes and technologies.
·  Keeping up to date with external trends / technologies and HSBC strategy, using the information to enhance customer service.
·  Using relationship management skills/tools to responsibly influence decisions and stakeholder advocacy.
·  Leading, mentoring and coaching less experienced members of staff.
·  Ensuring that the highest level of quality are provided for all activities and products.
·  Ensuring all architectural governance processes are adhered to including but not exclusive to Architecture Reviews, Solution Architecture Board (SAB) approvals, management of architecture risks, issues and MSII's, new technology products approved through the Technology Design Board (TDB) and existing/new service patterns/deployments guides are taken through the Technology Catalogue Board (TCB).
·  Ensuring compliance with all relevant internal instructions (FIMs, GSMs, circulars) and external regulatory requirements, including the management of operational risk and adherence to the group's standards of ethical behaviour.

Desired profile

The ideal candidate for this role will have:
·  Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. IT Data Architecture within a regulated industry
·  Past working experience in any of the following roles: Enterprise Data Architect, Enterprise Architect, Data Architect or Business Architect
·  Availability to undertake occasional (monthly) travel to other locations within the UK (eg Sheffield / London). Some ad-hoc international travel may be required.
·  Relevant product knowledge of Erwin and ArchiMate (or other industry strength tools) is desirable but not essential
·  Experience working in relevant Banking, Financial Services is desirable but not essential
·  Role relevant qualifications, i.e.TOGAF or alternate architecture frameworks is desirable but not essential
·  Past working experience serving multiple stakeholders and multiple lines of business is desirable but not essential
·  A track record of constantly looking for ways to do things better and an excellent understanding of the mechanism necessary to successfully implement change
·  Achieved targets and met expectations whilst supporting and encouraging others to do the same
·  A flexible and adaptable management style with experience of developing yourself and others
·  Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences
·  Built effective networks across business areas, developing relationships based on mutual trust and encouraging others to do the same
·  A track record of making complex business decisions with authority, even in times of ambiguity, considering the potential long term risks and implications
·  Experience of creating and deploying comprehensive business/operating plans which consistently deliver desired results
·  Experience of building and managing complex relationships with significant customers

The base location for this role is Sheffield (Griffin House) or London (Canada Square)
