Role Title: Data Intelligence Analyst

Role Purpose
To be part of a group of specialists whose primary objective is to develop strategic intelligence from large and disparate data sets in order to support decision making and management of financial crime risks and predictive analysis of key risk events.
This role demands collecting, analyzing, transforming and managing data to be used for developing patterns, trends, regression and other statistical models for data analysis by highlighting risk indicators that can be used to inform critical business decisions across all business lines.
The candidate is expected to :
Understand bank data (transactions, suspicious activity reporting, sanctions hits, etc.) stored in various databases
Develop tactical / strategic solutions for data acquisition, manipulation and analysis to assist other team members and key stakeholders in their investigations
Perform ad hoc analytics on large/diverse datasets
Understand importance of data sharing and data privacy laws
Collaborate across business and operational units
Key Accountabilities
Impact on the Business/Function
Perform data extraction, aggregation, analysis, and quality checking from multiple data sources to create and monitor tests and programs using platforms such as SQL and SAS.
Use the newest and most relevant technologies to uncover new insights that enable new or better products
Initiate data mining and analysis activities to explore big data to help the FIU to understand financial crime risks
Partner with statistician teams during the formulation, implementation, testing and validation of predictive models
Perform ad hoc analytics on large/diverse datasets
Help build business cases and lead definition of data strategies that support business strategy
Carry out analysis to assist strategic and management decisions by leveraging technical and analytical skills
Be a part of the full life cycle of projects and see end results
Collaborate across the FIU and operational units.

Engage with a diverse set of stakeholders in order to achieve the overarching objectives, including:
Effective collaboration with the Global Strategic Analysis team and regional counterparts to drive in-region capabilities
Group Security and Fraud Risk, Financial Crime Compliance and Intelligence teams
Managers throughout the Bank
Leadership & Teamwork
Strong teamwork with the broader FIU team to establish and maintain productive personal relationships
Operational Effectiveness & Control
Adherence to operational controls, as outlined in procedures and policies to ensure risks are identified and managed
Establishment of all necessary operational controls within the system
Major Challenges
Expert knowledge in database manipulation and applications. Ability to define and identify solutions to solving complex problems. Ability to apply statistical procedures to practical situations. May assist on special projects and support system enhancements: work with FIU IT and Quant Analyst teams on projects expanding proprietary system functionality and processes to support new products and next level of analytics. This is a challenging position requiring both technical skills and business understanding. This role is on a widely diversified and knowledgeable team that works well together and takes pride in quality of its people and work.
Role Context
The role is central to the development of a strong strategic analysis function and is significantly more complex than looking at numbers. The role holder should be able to draw logical conclusions from the data, provide valuable insight to the team and the Global Head of SA and compile the data into a form that is understandable to non-data analysts.
The work involves working with different specialized applications to pull data from databases and other sources, create reports, and use the software to identify patterns and trends in the information. You may be working in the office, on-site, or off site, depending on the location of the data and its movement.
The role will also include presenting data in charts, graphs, tables, designing and developing relational databases for collecting data across the Bank and building or designing data input or data collection screens.
Role Dimensions
Due to the nature of the role there is limited direct financial responsibility. However, the largest fraud/financial crime events in the banking environment (e.g. Madoff, Stanford, Parmalat, Enron, etc.) have the potential to result in losses of billions of dollars, so the indirect financial impact of the role is highly significant.
Management of Risk
The role itself involves risk management and the role holder must continually reassessing the operational risks associated with the role, taking account of changing economic, legal, technological and regulatory environments and adhering to all procedures and practices.
Observation of Internal Controls
The jobholder must adhere to all relevant internal controls and should be able to demonstrate a flawless track record in this area.
Desired profile
Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in quantitative subject or equivalent experience; Masters Degree preferred.
Experience / Skills
Experience in statistical modelling and data driven computation.
Verifiable in-depth knowledge of [regional] businesses.
Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, verbal and written communication skills.
Extremely detail oriented.
Keen interests in data analysis, performance, attribution and risk analytics.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
Strong SQL skills a must. Be able to free handedly and proficiently write SQL statements to analyze data, joining many tables to find matching or not-matching data, drawing conclusions, Hands on experience of working with large data sets.
