Data Governance Management

Role purpose  Data Governance Management jobs have responsibility for ensuring data assets are consumed, managed and governed in accordance with prevailing internal and external rules. Additionally, this job leads initiatives to embed and maintain a culture across HSBC where good data management practices prevail.

 

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities

·         Lead data governance activities, ensuring data practices comply with regulations of all geographies under remit.

·         Accountable for definition of HSBC data governance guidelines, procedures, standards, methods, tools and processes and ensure enforcement.

·         Lead initiatives which serve to implement, improve and maintain good data management practices

·         Define and implement sustainable operating models for data activities in the remit area

·         Ensure good practices in the management of data tools, reference data, data standards, data frameworks and templates. Ensure these are fitting for business needs and comply with prevailing regulations

·         Take ownership, either wholly or in part, for the management, monitoring and mitigation of operational risk in the field of data management

·         Work with internal stakeholders to determine business needs in the areas of data maintenance, data governance, risk management and data good practice.

·         Manage governance for working groups and decision making forums.

·         Oversee the management of external service providers which may include regulatory bodies

·         Ensure data teams and key stakeholders are kept abreast of developments in good data management and data governance practices.

Ensure that the operating methods and aims of the Chief Data Office is aligned to the prevailing methodologies with the remit area

·         Lead, develop and motivate the leadership team to attract, retain and develop the capacity, capability and talent to provide for succession and ensure delivery of business objectives.

·         Set expectations, share best practice and manage, monitor, coach and develop leaders to ensure that they maximize their performance, meet the required standards, and continuously develop their capabilities and experience.

·         Drive and encourage constructive cross-country and cross-business teamwork by demonstrating collaboration and matrix management in action and taking prompt action to address any activities and behaviours that are not consistent with HSBC's diversity policy and/or the best interests of the business and its customers.

·         Banking experience.

·         Strong knowledge Trusted Source Framework.

·         Strong knowledge in Data Management Framework.

·         Strong knowledge in governance process.

·         Possesses very strong management and interpersonal skills.

·         Excellent organizational, planning and management skills.

·         Ability to build relationships by communicating, influencing and negotiating effectively with business managers, consultants, technical experts across the whole department and business users.

·         Be delivery focused with ability to pay attention to details and ensure tasks are completed on time and to the high required levels of quality.

·         Structured approach to ensure adherence to the data architecture and management framework defined by Data and Architecture Office (DAO).

·         Able to build and maintain global and local relationships.

·         Skills to build executive presentations.

·         Outstanding written / verbal communication and presentation skills.

·         Strong hands-on capability.

·         Advanced English.
