Data Governance Manager

Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC's global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world's leading international bank.
Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.
We work in small, agile DevOps teams with colleagues around the world from our offices at the Bluefin Building in Southwark, our global headquarters in Canary Wharf, and multiple other locations around the UK including Sheffield, Leeds, Barnsley and Birmingham.
Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains and with plans for continued expansion throughout 2019 and beyond, we are currently seeking a number of experienced Data Governance managers to join HSBC Technology.
The Data Governance Manager is responsible for the data goverance structure & oversight of its operation across HSBC, in particular to develop, manage and maintain data standards, policies and methodologies, to ensure clear data governance structure in place, with clear decision rights for data forums and key data management staff. The individual would own and operate specific Group data governance activities (as per Data Governance Standard), such as Data Change Control and ensure apropriate training & advice available to support effective operation of the data governance structure & standards.
What you will be doing;

Implementation & effective operation of the Data Governance Standards & procedures, comply with data related regulation and avoid regulatory censure and costs (e.g. capital add-ons).

Liaise with business managers as well as external stakeholders such as regulatory bodies with respect to Data Governance activities and how they meet regulatory expectations.

Manage designated group data governance activities
·
Provide consultancy to each global business / global function / region to support their data governance strategy
·
Oversee the establishment of the performance metrics and reporting, ensuring governance forums receive the right information at the right time to understand and direct performance
Desired profile
Qualifications :
What you will bring to the role;
To be successful in this role you should have proven experience within the Technology sector with knowledge of the following skills:

Experience running data management programs and/or organizations at a large financial services institution operating in a global regulatory environment
· Knowledge of data management practices
·
Active industry knowledge of the current state of data management trends & regulation
·
Demonstrated knowledge of Financial Services (Banking, Wealth Management, and Capital Markets) business processes and resultant information needs: client, risk / regulatory / finance, etc
·
Demonstrated knowledge of data structure, data systems/tools and related software and data management policies and practices in a complex organizational environment
The location of this role is Park Street, Southwark, London.
