Global Service Centres
Our Global Service Centres are an integral part of Global Operations. Employees based there manage day-to-day customer transactions and processes for the global businesses. This may include transactions for our retail bank such as processing loans, credit cards, insurance and mortgage applications, opening new accounts, and managing customer enquiries through contact centres and digital platforms.
Employees in the Global Service Centres also run and manage operations for commercial bank customers. This includes processing credit applications, facilitating payments and managing the import and export transactions that enable customers to protect and grow their businesses through international trade.
Role Purpose (overall high level summary of the role)

Responsible for all activities related to development, upgrade, enhancement and support of Enterprise Data Warehouse, Data Marts, Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) batch processes and other data services and analytics applications.

Lead the design, architecture, documentation, development, deployment and support of Data Warehouse, Data Marts and ETL Solutions
·
Develop deliverables through a variety of development methodologies (waterfall, agile, RAD) and support the ongoing development of junior team members with these approaches.
·
L3 support for bug fixing and troubleshooting
·
Support the implementation and ongoing development of the Data Strategy
·
Ensure all designs and developments adhere to Data Governance and Data Management standards
·
Ensure all changes adhere to the Change Control Process (SDLC) and follow the approved Release Management process.
·
Review and sign off deliverables across the MI and Analytics teams
·
Work closely with the business analyst's and stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document the data requirements for projects of medium to high complexity
·
Communicate proactively with team members, managers, and project managers on issues and risks that may arise during the project life cycle. Develop and execute action plans to mitigate risks.

Define and document standards, guidelines and processes for Data Warehouse, ETL and Database development; Ensure that the guidelines and processes are followed
·
Developing and enforcing the Data integration processes, templates, design patterns, frameworks, best practices and technical standards.
·
Advise and implement Data ingestion techniques for real time and batch processes for a variety of sources into a variety of systems. Ensuring scalability and high availability, fault tolerance and elasticity within the Data and analytics systems
·
Oversee quality, testing and implementation of data acquisition, migration and information delivery
·
Carry out detailed technical architecture and system design reviews, ensuring the documentation of requirements and designs as appropriate
·
Complete all service desks calls within agreed SLA
·
Proactively drive workload and CI opportunities through the conversion of existing MI to BI functionality
We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join this team in “Data Engineer, GSC's”. In this role, you will:

Work closely with Group Procurement stakeholders and GB/GF Data teams to ensure business requirements are understood, translated and delivered as tooling capabilities
·
Coordinate delivery and dependencies between other Data Management projects and other relevant programs/initiatives
·
Interfaces with the business, ensuring full understanding of requirements and ability to translate technical and non-technical requirements for the appropriate user group
·
Ensuring compliance with HSBC Group company policies and procedures, including regulatory requirements.
·
Validate and monitor the success of new developments and changes to support analysis of business benefits
·
Manage all risks ensuring the appropriate recording and monitoring of risk mitigation
Customers / Stakeholders
·
Translate communications and stakeholder management strategy and plans into executable actions
·
Support users in ensuring correct requirements are recorded, impact assessed and developed to specification
·
Co-ordinate communications between the data team and all stakeholders
·
Effective communication with other Procurement teams, local Senior management to ensure alignment of objectives and requirements
·
Recommend new or improved processes or systems which support HSBC's strategic pillars
·
Proactively identify problem situations and resolve to give maximum customer satisfaction. Escalation used only where necessary.

Establish and maintain effective high-level relationship with customer business areas and identify areas of service improvements.

Represent data teams in governance forums as required
