Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC's global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world's leading international bank.
Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains and with plans for continued expansion into 2020, we are currently seeking an experienced Data Architect to join HSBC Technology.
Compliance KYC (Know Your Customer) IT provides in house technology for client due diligence of top tier CMB and Global Banking and Markets clients. This includes a tool to capture client level due diligence information, document repository, workflow tool and Data/MI.
The role is to establish and align consistent data architecture design and approach across all of the applications within KYC and Case Management, aligning to appropriate group data architecture models, controls and practices.
Key duties include:
Governance and Controls
· Accountable for a consistent Conceptual, Logical and Physical data model(s) for representation of KYC & CM data in the CDD review and financial crime investigation platforms.
· Establish and maintain a consistent data modelling practice within the development pods to ensure appropriate standards and governance are met as the solutions develop.
· Align with, and inform the design of, 3x Line of Business conformed data models, plus the Compliance Conformed Data Model as part of the overall enterprise Conceptual Data Model.
· Responsible for the establishing and enforcement of data controls as defined by the CDO.
· Ensuring that data lineage and mandatory metadata can be traced and appropriate distribution controls are applied.
Design and Delivery
· Understand the KYC and Case Management data architecture domain / sub-domains.
· Actively participate and contribute to CDD & CM cross platform / LOB and FCR IT forum discussion over Data Architecture & Strategy.
· Responsible for contributing to the establishing of an appropriate event ontology to support a transition towards an event driven anti-financial crime approach.

Qualifications :
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
· Extensive data architecture experience within IT, across multiple domains.
· Good understanding on Client Data and KYC Data Life Cycle, in relation to Customer Lifecycle
· Will possess good knowledge of JSON, UML, XML and XSD
· Familiar with SQL and database procedures and of Model driven Design.
· Familiar with NoSQL best practices
· Will possess working knowledge of JSON and API best practices, including data modelling and governance in the context of an agile delivery process.
· Exposure to MDM data model and MDM concepts.
· Exposure to RDM data model and RDM concepts.
· Ability to Read Architecture Diagrams, Business Process Flows and Data Model; suggest solutions and improvements.
· Familiar with industry data standards and regulations, e.g. PCI DSS, GDPR, DPA, etc.
· Experience in creating Conceptual and Logical Models.
· Good knowledge of Data Dictionary and Lineage and Dissemination concepts.
· Accountable for the identification, management and remediation of material design issues associated with major Data Architectural Issue.
· Provide a consultancy role to IT and business teams where appropriate.
· Experience with event based systems, preferably working knowledge of Kafka and event schema management.
· Acts as a subject matter expert, contributes to the development of group standards and identifies and implements new practices, processes and technologies based solution where required.
· Provide expert-level understanding of appropriate group business systems, their associated requirements and technology usage
· Understanding of Regional Regulatory constraints on the storage and flow of data in a global context.
· Ability to account for information assurance concerns in the design of metamodels.
· Experience Industry Data Interchange standards, Standard & Universal Data Model patterns i.e. not re-inventing the wheel.
The base location for this role is Sheffield.
