We will deploy smart machines to process complex and large sets of data, impossible with legacy manual mining methods. Data underpins everything we do; from risk & regulatory management, through monetization, to predicting client behaviour.

The Team

Our Data Science & Engineering teams are partnering with IT to deliver an ecosystem of curated, enriched and protected sets of data – created from global, raw, structured and unstructured sources. Our GBM Big Data Lake is the largest aggregation of data ever within HSBC. We have over 300 sources which equate to more than 20PTB of data, with a use case portfolio of over 110 projects that span all the business lines within GBM. We are utilising the latest machine learning tools and technologies to solve these hypotheses and deliver value and truly unique insights.

The Opportunity

GBM are looking for Data Analysts that will work on the end to end flow of a broad range of analytics use cases, to deliver real business value. From engaging with business stakeholders and understanding the problem, assisting data engineers in acquiring and processing the data, building and testing the appropriate model, to overseeing the deployment into production. We need people with experience of business analysis, data modelling and solution design to help deliver solutions to the business.

Qualifications :

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications

· 
Knowledge of and experience using data models and data dictionaries in a Banking and Financial Markets context. Knowledge of Trade Finance or Securities Services particularly useful.

· 
Knowledge of one or more of the following domains (including market data vendors):

·  Party/Client
·  Trade
·  Settlements
·  Payments
·  Instrument and pricing
·  Market and/or Credit Risk
· 
Can write SQL queries, Scala knowledge preferable and navigate data bases especially Hive, CMD, Putty, Note++

· 
Experience of using and flattening XML

· 
Experience of big data programmes preferable

· 
Enthusiastic and energetic problem solver to join an ambitious team

· 
Business analysis skills, defining and understanding requirements

·  Attention to detail
· 
Good knowledge of SDLC and formal Agile processes, a bias towards TDD and a willingness to test products as part of the delivery cycle

· 
Ability to communicate effectively in a multi-programme environment across a range of stakeholders
