Job description

Provides timely and accurate execution of trades for Company’s targeted institutional clients in assigned area.  Manages the firm’s trading risk as assigned.  Responsibilities commensurate with level assigned. Examines and analyzes market trends including current market conditions and makes decisions in a way that works for HSBC, its strategy and values. The role requires coordination and collaboration with portfolio managers. Accountable for managing daily trading to ensure timely execution; ensures compliance with HSBC’s regulatory standards.
Impact on the Business
Executes trades in High Grade and High Yield cash and derivative fixed income instruments (CDS). 
Execution of hard and local currency denominated Emerging Market instruments.
Ensures correct ticket entry and order routing, maintains communication with middle office in resolving any settlement problems, ensures ticket entry completion and provides general trade support, as necessary.
Reconciles daily and/or monthly reports, as assigned.
Ensures compliance monitoring is in place, including processes for management of operational risk, in accordance with HSBC and regulatory standards.
Contributes with portfolio managers in the Emerging Markets team investment process.
Exercises independent judgment on execution, reviews all activity for accurate account information.
Ensures all trades are booked to front office position keeping system on the day they are executed.
Ensures compliance monitoring is in place, including processes for management of operational risk, in accordance with HSBC and regulatory standards.
Thorough knowledge of the market, pricing and trading strategies.
Accountable for trading/execution within authorized limits.
Closely interact with Portfolio Managers (EM and Europe) and CIO; ensure efficient and effective relationships.
Interact with the portfolio managers and help formulate ideas suitable for client portfolios.
Uses initiative and independent judgment to analyze, problem solve and proactively respond to client issues.
Expected to make the necessary decisions to carry out own job responsibilities and meet primary goals and objectives.
Evaluates and escalates complex issues and/or problems to management.
 
Management of Risk
Each employee must be aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with the role and acts in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.
Each employee must ensure compliance, operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC or regulatory standards and policies; and optimize relations with regulators by addressing any issues.

Observation Control
Each employee must maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators. Any failures to comply with the above should be reflected in year end performance assessments.
Each employee must understand, follow and demonstrate compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.

Desired profile

2-5 years institutional trading experience, detailed knowledge of all aspects of  trading compliance.
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or equivalent work-related experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, must have strong analytical skills.
Ability to multi-task and to work well under pressure, strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Able to understand and manage complex and diverse instruments.
