Role Purpose
· Play an active role as part of the global cost management team for Global Market Operations. Based in London, the role will involve day to day prioritization of workload; scheduling and execution of delivery tasks; briefing stakeholders within GM Operations; monitoring of AOP vs actuals and forecast; providing explanations of variances; advice on potential cost save initiatives; providing reporting and commentary to managers within operations; liaison with the central finance teams and the monitoring and forward planning of HC and costs.
· The Cost Management team are responsible for the management and reporting of GM Operations costs. This includes BAU analysis and reporting, cyclical work such as the Annual Operating Plan and monthly forecasting process, adhoc analysis and central cost initiatives including risks and opportunities, headcount and boundary change tracking.
· The Cost Management Business Partner is expected to possess knowledge of financial budgeting, strategic planning, communication, and people management processes in the context of the business area they support but are not expected to have specific product knowledge relating to the business or function they support. This job is not external client facing and does not have any portfolios.
Key Accountabilities
Impact on Business
· Stakeholder communication and engagement, acting as a trusted advisor to Buisness Stakeholders by providing valuable commercial insights
· Supporting Stakeholders through provision of accurate, timely and insightful headcount and cost information.
· Analysing costs to identify and recommend opportunities for growth and to mitigate identified risks.
· Investigating and seeking remedies for discrete issues which may be adversely affecting business performance
· Review and challenege, where appropraite, Management Reporting Information e.g. allocations into GM Operations to deliver insightful analysis to the business,
· Deliver timely detailed insight to more complex regular and ad hoc requests from key stakeholders.
· Recommendations for methods of improving financial processes and reporting, delivering efficiency enhancements and cost savings.
· Building and maintaining an internal network, to include a range of stakeholders and SMEs, collaborating across the GM Operations, GBM and HSBC Finance.
· Participation in business planning activities which may include financial, technological and resource planning
· Participation in forums and committees to represent financial view of business area
· Participation in devising and monitoring of internal cost governance activities
· Working with external service providers to manage or evaluate their provision, monitor their performance and ensure service level agreements are honoured e.g. Consultancy costs

Role Context
· The successful candidate will report directly to the Global Head of Cost Management and will be required to obtain appropriate authority per the existing process for all procedural changes.
Role Dimensions
· Global GM Operations cost base circa $250m / FTE circa 3000
Observation of Internal Controls
· Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
· Understand, follow and demonstrate compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which you are involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.

Qualifications :
Technical Skill Requirements
· Financial Awareness & Acumen (strong understanding of relevant financial concepts and accounting principles to support role)
· Experience with MI Production & Reporting
· Ability to interpret Requirements from Business
· An understanding of the importance of the accuracy and integrity of data
· Inter-personal and Stakeholder Management skills
· Project/change experience in a financial services environment
· Systems skills including advanced Excel, TM1, Fusion and FTP
· Proven track record of finance and reporting function with strong business partnering skills
· Strong communication skills

· Degree level education
