We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Conversational Banking Data Scientist.
Here at HSBC, we are building a world class chatbot framework, using open source technologies that will enable our customers to interact with us in a conversational manner. This framework is language, use case and infrastructure environment agnostic, enabling different regional markets to easily create and deploy a bespoke chatbot to fit their needs. We are a small and independent team, having the freedom to decide our approach, tools and technologies.
Your responsibilities will include:

Steer the data science and analytics lifecycle for the AI elements of the chatbot:
·
Source and understand the available data that can be used for both extracting insights but also to train the machine learning models used by the chatbot
·
Design and develop the ETL pipelines needed to get the above data in the correct format and locations
·
Drive the decision making in all analytics/AI tasks for both the first deployment but also the day-to-day operations (including visualisations and reporting, data tagging, and maintaining/improving the model's accuracy during deployments)
·
Build the dialogue and natural language understanding engine using the most cutting-edge technologies.
·
Participate in a cross-functional and geographically dispersed team
·
Work closely with full stack developers and solution architects.
·
Work in an Agile Environment
·
Convincingly communicate and promote the chatbot technologies and capabilities with stakeholders at all levels.
Desired profile
Qualifications :
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
·
Expertise working with NLP technologies
·
Masters or PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Comp Sci or equivalent experience
·
Demonstrable hands-on experience in the field of Machine Learning, Deep Learning, NLP and Data Science using Python
·
Comfortable working with Git, AWS, TensorFlow, Spacy, Pandas and ScikitLearn
·
Strong understanding of the fundamentals of Computer Science
·
Ability to explain and present your work and ideas to non-technical stakeholders
In addition the below expertise is desirable;
· Subject matter expertise on chatbot frameworks.
·
Experience working with either RASA, Dialogueflow, Watson, Wit.ai and/or other major NPL providers
·
Experience working in regulated and structured job environments and/or a start-up
·
Front-end development skills
·
Devops skills
·
NoSQL databases
·
Big-data and ETL technologies (Spark, Scala, Hadoop, Glue, Athena)
