Job description

The Compliance Monitoring Manager role is based within the UK Regulatory Compliance Monitoring and Testing (RCMAT).
 
The role of the Compliance Monitoring Manager is to assist the Head of Compliance Monitoring and Testing, UK Bank Regulatory Compliance to fulfil the Regulatory Compliance Monitoring Plan, primarily in relation to the requirements of the FCA rules (ICOBS, COBS, SYSC, Client Assets Sourcebook CASS, TC, DISP, COLL, etc.), other regulatory requirements (e.g. competition law, and Lending Standards Boards requirements), and internal policies and procedures applicable to the Commercial Banking business function.

Your responsibilities will include:
Planning, leading and undertaking a wide variety of thematic, risk based reviews; typically these will focus on the standard of internal controls to manage and mitigate regulatory exercised by UK Commercial Banking (CMB) including any supporting front office, middle and back office functions
Reviewing and analysing a wide range of records and information relating to the banks processes through a series of desk-based and physical reviews
Testing internal processes against UK Regulator’s expectations and the Group’s policies and procedures; with a particular emphasis on conduct and customer outcomes
Assessing impacts and reporting issues in professional written reports, together with identifying root causes and making recommendations to remedy them
Regular and ad-hoc compliance risk assessment activities
Assisting with other projects, pieces of work as required by the Head of RCMAT UK Bank

Desired profile

The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Relevant product knowledge including knowledge of commercial Relationship Management, lending, asset finance, receivables finance, etc.
Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. UK Financial Services, having demonstrable knowledge of regulatory environment and associated risks; plus specific knowledge of the relevant FCA sourcebooks and other applicable regulation.
Experience working in relevant market/context, i.e. Commercial Banking
Past working experience in a relevant role, i.e. risk based monitoring, such as within a Compliance, Audit, Risk and/or Supervisory role, with a comprehensive understanding of risk management and proven experience of ensuring own/others compliance with relevant regulatory processes.
Experience of using relevant software packages, i.e. Excel and Word
Availability to undertake the travel required for this role, i.e. circa 20%, nationally, with some overnight stays
Role relevant qualifications, i.e. International Compliance Association (ICA) Compliance Diploma or similar relevant professional qualification, is desirable but not essential
Past working experience on relevant systems, i.e. Control Assessment Risk Management  (CARM) is desirable but not essential
Set and achieved challenging short, medium and long term goals which exceeded the standards in their field
Experience of supporting others' performance, enabling them to achieve by providing clear direction, motivation and support
Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences
Contributed productively to team objectives, sometimes supporting and sometimes leading activities to achieve shared goals
Planned projects and activities systematically in line with business priorities, using a variety of analysis and problem solving techniques
A comprehensive understanding of risk management and proven experience of ensuring own/others' compliance with relevant regulatory processes
In addition to the details listed above, the ideal candidate will have the ability to analyse and manipulate large amounts of information (such as management data, customer records, internal procedures, regulatory expectations) and articulate this into robust findings and recommendations.
 
The base location for this role is Birmingham.
