Job description

The Compliance Monitoring Manager role is based within the Regulatory Compliance Monitoring Team specialising in Commercial Banking.
 
The role of the Compliance Monitoring Manager is to assist the Compliance Manager in fulfilling compliance monitoring plan by planning and leading Compliance Monitoring reviews in order to obtain reasonable assurance that the business is operating in line with relevant laws, regulations, codes and HSBC Group Standards.

The role supports the CMB UK business by providing second line of defence regulatory compliance monitoring to assist in the management and mitigation of its risks. Opportunities to progress exist both within the CMB, UK Regulatory Compliance Monitoring & Testing Team and the wider Compliance community for someone taking this role. Nationwide travel opportunities are a feature of this role.
 
Your responsibilities will include:
Planning and leading compliance monitoring reviews to assist the compliance manager in the fulfilling the compliance plan within agreed timescales and budgets.
Foster a close working relationship with the local advisory team and business, including keeping abreast of key business, regulatory and industry developments and any changes to procedures and practices.  Ensuring that any reviews are completed in line with regulatory compliance procedures.
Responsibility for planning and implementing an effective review program including research, completion of the terms of reference and preparation of the testing documentation
Responsibility for the review team members and all team members and ensuring all findings and queries raised are accurate balanced and consistent.
Ensuring the reports and all review documentation is concise and accurately conveys the issues identified and the subsequent risk to the business making appropriate recommendations to mitigate the risks in a timely manner.
Provide strong support to the review leader when participating a review team member.

Desired profile

The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. Banking
Experience of using relevant software packages, i.e. Excel and Word
Availability to undertake the travel required for this role, i.e. On-Site testing and business meetings will require travel principally within the UK and may involve overnight stays
Relevant product knowledge including knowledge of Commercial Banking including Global Trade and Receivables Finance and Payment and Cash management  is desirable but not essential
Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. Commercial Banking, internal control and testing experience, regulatory compliance experience  is desirable but not essential
Experience working in relevant market/context, i.e. Experience working in one of the largest Banking Institutions is desirable but not essential
Achieved targets and met expectations whilst supporting and encouraging others to do the same
Both spoken and written communication skills with experience of adapting your style and approach to the audience and message to be delivered
Contributed productively to team objectives, sometimes supporting and sometimes leading activities to achieve shared goals
Experience of making prompt and practical business decision, even in times of ambiguity, considering various perspectives and taking responsibility for outcomes
Experience of creating and deploying comprehensive business/operating plans which consistently deliver desired results
A comprehensive understanding of risk management and proven experience of ensuring own/others' compliance with relevant regulatory processes
In addition to the details listed above, the ideal candidate will have excellent written and  spoken communication skills, an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audience.
 
The base location for this role is Birmingham.
